How to migrate from any engineering college to Panjab University Chandigarh after first year

Punjab University Migration Engineering Entrance Test or PU MEET is a golden opportunity for engineering students who have completed their 1st year B.E./B.Tech in any branch from any engineering institute or college or university recognized by PU Chandigarh and want to migrate from their current institute to UIET Chandigarh, UICET Chandigarh or UIET Hoshiarpur or upgrade their branch within the engineering institutes under PU.


Panjab University Migration Engineering Entrance Test is a first of its kind entrance exam to be conducted by Panjab Univerisity, Chandigarh for the first time in 2019 for lateral entry to engineering courses. The B.E./B.Tech seats that fell vacant in previous academic session (2018-19 for 2019 entrance exam) in Univerisity Institute of Engineering Institute and Technology (UIET) Chandigarh, Dr SSB University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET) Chandigarh and University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET) Hoshiarpur will be filled by this test. In simple language, any engineering student who has/her completed his 1st year from any other engineering college (other than the above mentioned three) can complete his/her remaining 3 years of graduation from the above-mentioned engineering institutes. Also, any student who currently studies in the above mentioned three institutes can upgrade their branch through this entrance exam.

Panjab University is one of the oldest universities of India which was founded in 1882 in Lahore. PU secures its name among the top international universities and features its name among the top 10 universities in India. The beautifully structured lush green campus is spread over 550 acres with the best possible facilities available for the students. PU has 78 departments and most of its departments have negligible fees, thus enabling every section of the society to learn and grow. Eligibility Criteria

All the interested candidates who have pursued B.E. (first year) from any Engineering Institute/University (including those already studying in engineering institutes of Panjab University Campus (es) or its affiliated institutes) recognized by Panjab University, Chandigarh with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks and have appeared in JEE Main are eligible to appear in this entrance test.

Registration Procedure for 2019 Entrance Test

  1. PU MEET will be conducted on July 14, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. in Chandigarh only.

  2. All the interested and eligible candidates have to register online at the official website till 3rd July, 2019.

  3. Note down your login ID and password for further process.

  4. Deposit registration fee of Rs 2500/-(for general category) or Rs 1250/-(for SC/ST/PwD category) using website generated bank slip at any SBI branch, minimum one day after printing of bank slip before 5th July, 2019.

  5. Login and upload scanned photograph, signature; save and confirm other information till July 08, 2019

  6. Download your admit card after July 11, 2019. The admit card availability will be communicated to the candidates through e-mail only.

  • Last date for fee deposit: July 05, 2019 till 4:00 p.m.

  • Last date for uploading of photograph, signature and confirming rest of the information on the website: July 08, 2019

  • Availability of online admit card: July 11, 2019

  • Entrance test: July 14, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.

  • Answer key availability: July 19, 2019

  • Declaration of result: July 27, 2019

  • Date of availability of admission form for Dr. SSBUICET, UIET, Chandigarh and UIET, PUSSGRC, Hoshiarpur: July 27, 2019

Exam Pattern

The duration of the entrance test will be for one hour and forty minutes. It will consist of 100 multiple choice questions of 1 mark each. The syllabus is given on the official website. There will be negative marking for wrong answers (¼ marks will be deducted). The subject wise distribution of questions is depicted below:
Mathematics: 30
Physics: 20
Chemistry: 20
General Engineering: 20
Communication Skills: 10

Merit Criteria

There will be 15% cut off marks for general category and 10% cut off marks for SC/ST/PwD/BC category in PUMEET. The University will publish common merit cum rank list. Rank will be awarded on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam to all the candidates. Branch and Institute will be finalized at the time of admission as per the availability of seats strictly on the basis of merit cum rank and eligibility conditions.
