The Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship for girls 2019-20 instituted by Maulana Azad Education Foundation was started to promote and help meritorious girl students who belong to National Minorities and who are not able to continue their education without financial support. This scholarship was earlier known as "Maulana Azad National Scholarship". The benefit of this scholarship lies in the fact that students who receive the scholarship amount can utilize it for paying School/College Fee, purchasing syllabus books and stationery/equipment that are required for the course and also for paying Boarding/Lodging charges. Another important point is that only girl students belonging to six notified minority communities like Parsis, Muslims, Jains, Christians, Sikhs and Buddhists are eligible for this scholarship. Eligibility

Girl students who are studying in Class 9th -12th, and have secured at-least 50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate in previous class are eligible to apply for this scholarship provided their annual income of parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2.00 lakh.

Do students need to submit an income certificate of their parent/guardian for getting this scholarship?

Yes, they have to submit the Income certificate of parents/guardian that should be issued by the Competent Authority declared by the State Government/UTs Administration in order to be eligible for this scholarship.

Selection process

The selection process will be mainly based on the criteria of the parent/guardian's annual income. So among the students who have secured 50% marks in the previous exam, the selection will be primarily done on the basis of the lower-income criteria. Note: No scholarship will be given for studying abroad for any course.

Scholarship amount

For class lX and X students, the actual subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs.10000/- will be released in two instalments of Rs. 5000/- each while for class Xl and Xll students, the actual subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs.12000/- will be released in two instalments of Rs. 6000/- each.

How to get the scholarship amount?

The scholarship amounts will be directly credited to the bank account of the selected applicant through DBT mode.

How to apply?

Students can apply online through Scholarship Portal of Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF), www.maef.nic.in. All the required documents in English or Hindi language should be uploaded along with the online application and also no physical/hard copy is required to be submitted by post/hand to MAEF.
