Central Institute of Tool Design Hyderabad M.Tech. Mechatronics course admissions 2019

Central Institute of Tool Design, Hyderabad, established by the Govt. of India, is providing specialized training in Mechatronics for which it invites applications for the 2019 course beginning in August. This full-time Post Graduate course in Master of Technology (Mechatronics) is being conducted under the Industry-Institution joint program with JNTU, Hyderabad. The course is approved by AICTE.

About the course

Duration: Two years, over four semesters.

Number of seats: 32, out of which 15 are for General category candidates, seven for OBC, three for SC, one for ST, one for PH and five for industry-sponsored candidates.

Centers: The classes for the course will be conducted at –
(i) JNTUH, Kukatpally, Hyderabad on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
(ii) CITD, Balanagar, Hyderabad on Thursday and Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Course fee

Rs.41,000/- per semester. Candidates who are applying in the industry-sponsored category have to pay a fee of Rs.51,000/- per semester. The fee can be paid via a Bank Challan or a DD in favour of the Principal Director, CITD, Hyderabad. Although there are no scholarships offered to any candidate by CITD or J.N.T.U.H or A.I.C.T.E., students can avail of reimbursement from the State Government.

Eligibility requirements

Age criteria: 45 years. This criteria is not applicable to industry-sponsored candidates.

Educational Qualification: You should have a B.E. / B. Tech. Degree in Mechanical/ ECE/EEE/EIE/Mechatronics/Automobile/Aeronautical Engineering or an equivalent-approved institution. Additionally, you should have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying exam.

In the case of an industry-sponsored candidate, it is required to have at least two years full-time professional work experience after passing the qualifying exam in a registered firm/company/industry/educational and research institution/Govt. Department/autonomous organizations in the relevant field. At the time of admission, the candidate should provide a letter from the employer who is the sponsor, with the employer clearly mentioning that the sponsored candidate will not be withdrawn midway till the completion of the M.Tech. Mechatronics course.

Application fee

General category candidates have to pay Rs.800/-. SC and ST category candidates have to pay Rs.400/-. PWD candidates are exempt from paying this fee. Note that those applying through the SC/ST/OBC/PWD category are required to enclose documentary proof of their category, this being duly attested by a Gazetted Officer. Those applying through the PWD category must produce a medical certificate from the competent authority.

How to pay the application fee

You have two options, online and offline. Through the offline mode, you can pay it via a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Principal Director, CITD, Hyderabad. For the online mode of payment, you have to do so through the official website (see the end of this article). Select the 'pay online' option and proceed to the SBI payment gateway, where you have to click on the proceed button and then select (i) 'application fee' for the payment category, (ii) Hyderabad as the training centre and (iii) 'M.Tech. Mechatronics' as the long-term course.

Selection process

All candidates will be selected for the course based on merit in the written test which will be conducted by J.N.T.U.H, Hyderabad. Note that even those holding a GATE rank must appear for the entrance test and qualify for admission to the course through this test.

How to apply

Download the application form for the M.Tech. Mechatronics course official website of CITD-India. Send the filled-in application form enclosed with the copy of the challan of application fee paid by you, along with photo copies of proof of age, proof of pass of the qualifying exam and proof of caste/PWD (where applicable) to:

Hyderabad-500 037.

Note: Mention on the envelope "Application for M.Tech Mechatronics".

At the time of admission, you need to submit the following documents:
(i) The original certificates of qualifying exams, namely SSC/Matric, B. Tech/ B.E. These will not be returned to the student till the entire scheduled study period is completed at the Institute. Hence, it is advisable to make multiple photocopies before submitting the originals to CITD at the time of counselling.

(ii) A Certificate of physical fitness from an Assistant Civil Surgeon. You may be required to go for an additional medical exam if considered necessary by the institute.

(iii) You will be required to submit an undertaking for good conduct and behaviour and that you will adhere to the institute's prescribed rules and regulations.

Entrance test format

The entrance test to get admission to the course is of two hours' duration, with 100 objective type questions. The subjects covered are Electrical Engineering, Fluid mechanics & Hydraulic System, Thermal Engineering, Production Technology, Basic & Digital Electronics, Metallurgy & Material Science, Measurements & Instrumentation, Control Systems, General Aptitude (Analytical & Reasoning).

Important dates

  1. Last date to submit applications: 16th July 2019, 5p.m.

  2. Last date to submit application with a late fee of Rs.500/-: 20th July 2019.

  3. Date of Entrance Exam: 24th July 2019, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The exam center is JNTUH, College of Engineering, Kukatpally, Hyderabad.
