Unlike the latter, swimming will not strain your bones and will also develop your cardiovascular health. Arthritis is a condition of inflammation or swelling or tenderness of the joints in the body and generally manifested by pain and stiffness in the joints. There are various types of arthritic conditions but the most common one are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. This ailment generally worsens with age. Arthritis is the condition of inflammation in a localised part of the body and mostly it could be seen in the joint portion. According to Ayurveda, such inflammation occurs due to an imbalance of Tridoshas such as Vata, Pitta and Cough.

There are different Ayurvedic approach to deal with this obstinate disease. However, this needs a thorough investigation by the Vaidya in order to ascertain the constituent of the patient namely Vata, Vata-pitta type, or Vata-cough type or merely a cough type and accordingly the treatment will follow.

The manifestation of this disease is due to an erratic lifestyle where there is no proper follow up for food, sleep and exercise regimes. Some diets are forbidden in the night such as taking curd, fruits etc.

However, once the disease appears, it can be eliminated from its roots by the administration of medicines and treatment. However, the dose and duration have to be prescribed by the Ayurvedic Doctor. He may prescribe certain Yoga or Meditation after examining the patient but one thing is sure, the disease can be eliminated from its root whereas in the other systems it is not curable permanently.

Extra virgin olive oil-
Massaging with extra virgin olive oil is an excellent way to get rid of arthritis pain as it lubricates joints. Massage at least twice a day gently. Make sure olive oil is cold-pressed one. One can also take 2-3 tablespoons of oil internally. Also, one can prepare various recipes from it and reap more benefits.

Blackstrap molasses-
This drink can be used to treat arthritis. It is not a new remedy. It has been used for a long period of time to treat arthritis. Moreover, this drink is easily available. It is rich in nutrients such as calcium, magnesium and potassium. Thus, it is effective in relieving arthritis pain and other symptoms associated with the condition. It makes bone strong and also helps muscles and nerves to function efficiently. Take a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses in a glass of warm water once daily.

Also, there are a few more ingredients which help to relieve arthritis pain and associated symptoms. Some of them are-
