How to do Unique Disability ID (UDID) card registration in Chandigarh


Want to register for UDID card in Chandigarh? This article provides the complete list of official centres where Persons with Disability (PwD) can get assistance for the online registration process for a UDID card.

Introduction

The Central Govt. has launched a project to create a database of Persons with Disability (PwD) and to issue a Unique Disability Identity Card (UDID) to every person with a disability. Similar to the Aadhar ID card, the UDID card will be useful for citizens to submit when availing of benefits provided specifically for PwD.

Through a notification in leading newspapers, the Chandigarh Administration stated that it has set up help centres to assist persons with disabilities who are residing in Chandigarh with the registration process. The nodal person and staff at each centre will help in the online filling up of the application form at the official government website of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Eligibility criteria

Any Person with Disability who is a resident of Chandigarh and has a valid Disability Certificate which has been issued by the competent authority of the Chandigarh Administration can visit the centre for registration.



Documents required

This is the list of documents which the Person with Disability should bring to the centre for registration:
  1. Disability Certificate issued by the competent authority of the Chandigarh Administration.

  2. Proof of residence which indicates the Person with Disability is a resident of Chandigarh. This can be the Voter ID card or the Aadhar card or the driving licence or any other residential address proof.

  3. One passport size colour photo.

This is very valuable information for the disabled people and they or their caretakers should take advantage of this and contact the nearest centre for making a UDID card.

Nowadays there are many facilities extended by many agencies to disabled persons. For example the airport administration provides a helper and wheel chair to the needy persons. So in such a situation making this card will be very handy for the disabled persons as they can conveniently produce it anywhere and based on that the requisite facilities will be extended to them by the concerned entity.
