The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India is hiring over thirty young professionals for contractual work. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is responsible for providing information on and creating awareness about, the policies and schemes of the Government of India. This is achieved through varied media platforms, including on-air and print, online mode and unique offline forms such as theatre. It also develops policies related to public broadcasting services.

Now, with media, in general, growing by leaps and bounds in a phenomenal way, the Ministry would like to engage 35 high-quality young professionals, including women, to strengthen its functioning and that of its media units.

Nature of the appointment

The selected candidates will be posted in New Delhi on a temporary, contract basis for a period of three years. The continuation of the work beyond the first and the subsequent year will be based on satisfactory performance as per the annual review. The appointment will be on a full-time basis and the selected professional cannot take up any other work during the period of work with the Ministry. The appointed young professional will not be regarded as a staff member or Official of the Ministry and its media units.

It is imperative that the appointed young professional maintains honesty, is sincere in his/her work as assigned by the Ministry/media unit where posted and also upholds the secrecy of office. There should be no misuse of the name, emblem or official seals and all standards of conduct as laid out in the terms and conditions should be maintained at all times.


Rs.50,000/- per month is the fixed consolidated monthly remuneration, including all applicable taxes. No allowances are offered, such as Dearness Allowance, house rent allowance, residential telephone, insurance, medical reimbursement, etc. TA/DA will be given only for travel within India in connection with official work, subject to approval. The amounts to be reimbursed toward hotel stay, food, etc during this work will be fixed.

Eligibility requirements

Only Indian nationals who fulfil the following eligibility criteria should apply -
Academic qualifications: You should have a Master's Degree or a Diploma in the relevant subject. It is desirable to have a Master's Degree in these fields: Journalism, Mass Communication, Visual Communication, Information Arts, MBA, Animation & Designing, Literature and Creative Writing.

Age criteria: The upper age limit is 32 years, as on the closing date of the application.

Experience: You should have at least one year of experience after acquiring the Degree/Diploma, preferably in the field of communication, designing, marketing, e-commerce, animation, editing, and book publishing.

Skills: You must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, interpersonal skills and analytical skills. It is required to be proficient in using computers and working on MS Office. Good command of English and Hindi or a regional language is also a necessity.

Selection and training process

The applications will be screened by a selection committee, based on qualifications, age, and experience. The committee will shortlist candidates and decide on the selection method for hiring young professionals. On appointment, the young professional will undergo training for the duration of three days at the office of the Ministry/media unit where posted.
