In India there are basically three types of Air hostess courses available:

    Aspirants after completing 12th can opt for these certificate courses. Such certificate courses are mostly offered by private institutes so the duration of such courses varies.     Degree courses

    Among the three courses mentioned above, the degree course is the best one. The degree course is of a duration of three years. The degree course is designed keeping the trade of Air Hostess and Aviation hospitality in mind. Some of the well known Air Hostess training Degree courses are:

  • Eligibilty criteria

    Educational qualification

    The minimum educational qualification to become an air hostess is to 10+2 in any stream (Science, commerce, arts).

    Age limit

    Most institutes only accept those who are between the ages of 17-25 years. However, some institutes also extend the age limit up to 26 years.

    Physical Standards

  • Minimum height requirement is 157 cm (for females) and 170 cm (for males). This requirement may differ from one airline to another.
  • The weight of the candidate should be in proportion to his/her weight.
  • Spotless skin complexion will give candidates an edge.
  • Candidates have to be physically fit.

  • Other requirements

    Apart from the above requirements, here are few other things which are mandatory to be selected as an air hostess:
  • A candidate should be smart and have a dynamic and pleasant personality.
  • Should be Polite and of a helping nature.
  • Good communication skills are a must.
  • Should be preferably fluent in foreign languages.
  • Marital status- unmarried (not applicable in case of all airlines).
  • Presence of mind and quick thinking.

  • Admission Procedure

    Most of the reputed Air Hostess training institutes operate under the guidelines set by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation). The admission is provided to candidates only through a written test and an interview. The main aim of these tests is to judge the aptitude of the candidates.     The salary of an air hostess depends on the type of airlines a person works with. An international airline always pays a better salary than a domestic one. Also, Government airlines pay as per the government grades. Air hostesses aldo get the incentives as per the rules of the employer.
