About JNIS
Jamnabai Narsee International School was established by the Narsee Monjee Educational Trust (NMET) in 2015. The school has classes from Nursery up to Grade 12, with the curriculum based on that of International Baccalaureate's (IB) programs. Thus, students are enrolled in the Primary Years Programme (PYP); then comes the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and finally the Diploma Programme (DP).
Once the student completes Grade 7, he/she has the option to enrol for IGCSE-based education, which is of the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), UK. If they so wish, the students can continue with the ICSE curriculum of the earlier classes, this being based on the norms of the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)-CISCE, New Delhi. In the case of the IGCSE option, the students have to appear for the CIE Checkpoint exam at the end of the academic session of Class 8.
Alongside academic studies, students are active participants in co-curricular activities, such as music and art, sports and physical education. Learning values and, later, participating in social services for the community at large form part of the co-curricular activities in the higher classes. A unique mentoring program of the school is the Jamnabai Adolescent Mentor (JAM) program, through which senior students are trained by faculty to act as mentors for junior class students. Outdoor trips for recreational and educational purposes are also scheduled from time to time.
JNIS thus provides a multi-faceted growth of the student, fostering creative thinking, encouraging them to solve problems and equipping them with the ability to face challenges. As one of the most reputed IGCSE schools, the school curriculum offers a wonderful combination of international pedagogies with personal development skills of the child. The in-depth planning of academic studies with unique teaching-learning strategies, not to mention interesting co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, has produced exemplary results year after year.
