About CEEDCommon Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) is conducted by IIT Bombay for admission to Master of Design (M.Des) program at IIT Bombay, IISc Bangalore, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIITDM Jabalpur and Ph.D programs in Design at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IISc Bangalore, IIT Kanpur and IIT Hyderabad.
The main objective of the CEED is to access the aptitude of the candidate for design involving drawing skills, perception ability, creativity, logical reasoning, communication, and problem-solving skills. CEED score doesn't guarantee the admission to any of these programs, Admitting institutes will conduct the interview and further tests for the final selection of candidates for admission. The score of CEED 2020 will be valid for a period of 1 year from the date of announcement of results.
CEED 2020 Exam patternThis CEED 2020 will be conducted on 18th January 2020 from 10 am to 1 pm. This exam consists of 2 parts, Part A and Part B. Part A will be conducted from 10 am to 11 am and part B will be conducted from 11 am to 1 pm.
Part A:It consists of objective type questions - 10 multiple select questions (24 marks), 23 multiple choice questions (46 marks), 8 numerical answer type questions (24 marks) related to design aptitude which evaluate candidate's visual and spatial ability, analytical and logical reasoning, environmental and social awareness, observation and design sensitivity. Answers for these questions should be given on the computer.
Part B: It consists of a total of 5 sections - Sketching, Creativity, Form Sensitivity, Visual Sensitivity, Problem Identification. Each section consists of one question and each question carries 20 marks. Part B tests the candidate's design, writing and drawing skills. In this questions will be displayed on the computer and answers should be written in the answer book, not on the computer.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in part A, the minimum percentage of marks required in Part A for shortlisting the candidates is as follows according to the category:
Part B answer books of shortlisted candidates form Part A will be evaluated manually. The final CEED score will be calculated by giving the weightage to marks obtained in part A and Part B as follows:
Examination citiesCEED 202 will be conducted in the following cities, candidates have to choose any 3 cities in order of preference during online registration.

Application processInterested and eligible candidates can register online through the official website from 9th October 2019. Candidates have to the registration fee online itself through credit card/ debit card/ net banking. The last date for the registration for CEED 2020 without late fee is 9th November 2019. Candidates can register online with late fee of Rs. 500/- till 16th November 2019. Registration fee is non-transferable and non-refundable.
