IntroductionIOCL is a public sector unit and is an Indian state government-owned oil and gas company headquartered in New Delhi. IOCL or Indian Oil has invited graduate engineers for recruitment as Engineers or Officers (quality control) through GATE exam. IOCL has released a recruitment notification for 466 vacancies for the positions of apprentice.Interested candidates can submit their application till March 8, 2020.Indian citizens having a graduate degree in the discipline mentioned by IOCL may apply for the recruitment.Candidates are not required to pay any separate application fee to Indian Oil.Shortlisted candidates on the basis of their GATE scorecard are shortlisted and are called for GD and PI. Final selection of the candidates is done by considering the overall performance.
IOCL Recruitment Eligibility CriteriaBelow are the required educational qualification to apply for IOCL Recruitment through GATE 2020:
A graduate degree is required in Chemical engineering/ Civil engineering/ Computer science and Information technology/ Electrical engineering/ Electronics and communications engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering/ Mechanical engineering from a recognized university.Only Indian citizens can apply to these posts.
Eligibility for chemical and polymer science and engineeringCandidates having BE/B.Tech or equivalent qualifications in chemical engineering/Polymer science and engineering /Petro-chemical engineering/ Plastic technology may apply for the vacancies in chemical engineering.However, candidates with BE/B. Tech equivalent qualifications in Chemical engineering/Polymer science engineering/technology, who aspire to apply only for the vacancies under Polymer science and engineering must appear under engineering sciences.
The candidate must have secured minimum 65% of marks in qualifying degree examination (relaxation of 55% for SC/ ST /PWD category).
Concessions/ Relaxations by IOCLThe reservation of posts for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ PwBD (degree of disability 40% or above) will be considered as per rule of Government of India.For OBC category:The caste and community name of the candidate must appear in the 'Central list of Other Backward Classes'.The candidates must not belong to creamy layer. The candidates must possession their OBC certificate as per the format prescribed by Government of India and it must not be more than 6 months old.Relaxation up to 55% for SC/ST/PwBD category in qualifying examinations.Relaxation in upper age limit will be relaxed as per government rules.
Job ProfileThe candidates who get selected as engineers may be posted in any one of the divisions of Indian Oil such as refineries, marketing, pipelines and business development, information systems, optimization or in the subsidiary/joint venture companies.Refineries : Engineering services, process, production, projects, power plant, maintenance, inspection, etc.Marketing : Aviation services, engineering, operations, maintenance and inspection, sales and marketing, technical services, Quality Control, etc.Pipelines : Operations and maintenance, constructions, projects, etc.Business development : petrochemicals, polymer projects, operations, sales and marketing, gas, renewable energy and sustainable development
Petroleum engineers shall be posted in the exploration and production business.
RemunerationThe candidates who get selected as engineers/officers will get a monthly remuneration of INR 60000. Also, the selected candidates will get DA and other allowances as per the rules of the government and will be amended from time to time.Other allowances or benefits include HRA/ housing accommodation (depending upon the place of posting), medical facilities, performance-related pay, provident fund, gratuity, group personal accident insurance scheme, employees' pension scheme, leave encashment, superannuation benefit fund scheme, LTC, conveyance advance, performance-related incentives, etc.The cost to company (CTC) will be around INR 17.00 lakhs per annum including performance-related salary.The actual CTC varies, depending on the place of posting, the financial performance of the corporation and also the performance of an employee.
How to Apply?To apply for IOCL through GATE, candidates must follow the two-step process:
Step1: Online registration for GATE 2020 examinationApply/register online for GATE 2020 by using GATE Online application processing system (GOAPS) before the last date i.e. October 1, 2019.GATE 2020 will be online examination and will be conducted in February 2020.
Step 2: Online Application in Indian Oil with GATE registration No.Go to the official website of IOCL i.e. www.iocl.comClick on the "careers" option and open the link.Click on apply online and a window will appear . Enter the required details like discipline, GATE registration no. and Date of birth.Fill all the personal and qualification details, then upload the scanned copy of your recent photograph and signature.When you click on the "submit" button a unique ID will generate along with the application form.
IOCL Selection ProcessThe selection process for officers/engineers/research officers in the R&D centre and assistant officers (Quality control) in the marketing division will comprise of the following:
Graduate aptitude test in engineers (GATE) 2020 score of the candidates in the concerned disciplines. Graduate Engineers from the relevant disciplines aspire of taking up a career with Indian Oil are required to appear in GATE-2020 in the same discipline.The GATE scores of the current session i.e. 2020 session will be valid for the recruitment in Indian Oil. The score of GATE 2018 or from any previous GATE examination will not be considered.On the basis of GATE 2020 score, the candidates will be shortlisted for further selection process consisting of group discussion (GD)The candidates must qualify in the exam. After then the candidates will have to qualify in group discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) for the final selection.Final merit list will be prepared based on GATE scores and further scores obtained by the candidates in GD and PI.
