Indian Army recruitment rally for 130 Infantry Battalion in Pithoragarh Uttarakhand

Are you an ESM or ex-women employee of the State Govt. of Uttarakhand who wants to join the Territorial Army? This article provides information about an opportunity to join the 130 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Ecological, Kumaon. The list of vacancies, eligibility criteria and the schedule of the rally has been provided.

The Commanding Officer, 130 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Ecological, Kumaon has issued a notification of a recruitment rally to be conducted at its Battalion Headquarters next month. There are vacancies in 13 categories. Ensure that you are medically fit and fulfill all eligibility requirements before attending the rally. The authorities who are conducting the rally will not be responsible for any accident or injuries to a candidate during the rally.

Rally Schedule

Date of rally: 7th November to 10th November 2019. The verification of documents and the physical tests will be conducted on 7th November. The medical test of candidates selected through the physical test will be on 8th and 9th November. The interview of candidates selected through the medical test will be on 9th and 10th November.

Venue: Battalion Headquarters, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.

Time of rally: Candidates should be present at 0600hrs. along with the list of required documents (these are mentioned later in this article).

List of vacancies and who can apply

RT JCO Category: There is one vacancy. Eligibility: Ex-Servicemen (ESM), Religious Teacher of the State of Uttarakhand.

JCO (GD) Category: There is one vacancy. Eligibility: ESM of the State of Uttarakhand and ex-women employees (including premature retirees with minimum 20 years of service) of the Ministry of Environmental Forest and Climate Control (MoEF&CC) and the State Forest Department, Uttarakhand.

Sep (GD) Category: There are 28 vacancies. Eligibility: the same eligibility as JCO (GD) applies.

Eligibility for the other vacancies which are listed below is as follows –
The first priority will be given to ESM of the State of Uttarakhand and in case there are no candidates, then ESM from the Zone will be considered. This includes ESM from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. In case there are no candidates from the Zone as well, then ESM on an all-India basis will be considered. The second priority will be for direct candidates/open market, with candidates from the State of Uttarakhand being given first preference. In case suitable candidates are not recruited, then candidates from the Zone (the States mentioned in the first priority) will be considered. In case suitable candidates are not recruited from the Zone, then on an all-India basis will be considered. The vacancies are -
  1. Chef Community: There are two vacancies.
  2. Special Cook: There is one vacancy.
  3. Mess Waiter: There is one vacancy.
  4. Carpenter: There is one vacancy.
  5. Mess Cook: There is one vacancy.
  6. Masalchi: There is one vacancy.
  7. Equipment Repairer: There are two vacancies.
  8. Blacksmith: There is one vacancy.
  9. Tailor: There is one vacancy.
  10. Sep Clerk: There is one vacancy.

Eligibility criteria for ESM and ex-Women Employees

All the candidates must have exemplary/very good character and be in the medical category of SHAPE-1. Other criteria are as follows-
Age criteria: There is no minimum age for ESM. However, it is required that they should get enrolled within five years from the date of their retirement/discharge. The same applies to ex-Women employees (including premature retirees) of the Ministry of Environmental Forest and Climate Control (MoEF&CC) and the State Forest Department, Uttarakhand.

General Qualification: (i) ESM (only pension holders) or Ex-Women employees (including premature retiree with minimum 20 years of service) of the Ministry of Environmental Forest and Climate Control (MoEF&CC) and the State Forest Department, Uttarakhand. (ii) Ex-JOCs (Religious Teacher) pension holder for the post of Religious Teacher JCO.

Physical standards: Male candidates should have a minimum weight of 50kgs and female candidates should have a minimum weight of 42kgs. Height wise, it should be 160cm (152cms in the case of Gorkhas and Garhwalis) and 150cm for Ex-Women employees of MoEF&CC, and the State Forest Department. Chest: 82cm (minimum expansion of 5cm) for male candidates (chest expansion of 5cm).

Eligibility for Direct candidate (open market)

Age criteria: 18 to 42 years as on the date or recruitment.

Educational Qualification:
(a) For Soldier Clerk: 10+2 pass in any stream, with minimum 60% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in each individual subject. Candidates with proficiency in computer typing will be preferred.
(b) For Soldier/Tradesman: 10th simple pass, with preference given to candidates working on his trade work in any Government/non-Government institution.

Physical requirements: Minimum height of 160cms; minimum weight of 50kgs; Chest – 77cms, with expansion of 05cms.

List of documents

Candidates should ensure that they submit the requisite documents at the rally as per the specific post they are applying for-

For ESMs

  1. Discharge book.
  2. PPO in original + a Photostat.
  3. ESM Identity Card.
  4. Seven colour passport size photos.

For Ex-Women Employees

  1. Pension Order in original and Photostat.
  2. Certificate from the concerned Department where you served for 20 years.
  3. Seven colour passport size photos.

For Direct candidates (open market)

The following documents are required to be brought to the rally along with two sets of Photostat copies of the certificate, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.
  1. Birth certificate issued by the Registrar of Birth and death or 10th Class Board Certificate showing date of birth.
  2. Nativity/State/Domicile certificate issued by the Tehsildar/SDM/DM/DC.
  3. Character Certificate issued within the last six months and which is duly signed by the Sarpanch/SHO/School Principal only.
  4. Mark sheet for Class 10 and for Class 12 (and above if available).
  5. Married/unmarried certificates from Sarpanch/Gram Pradhan/SDM/DM/DC.
  6. Relationship certificate issued by the Record Office concerned, only of father's Discharge Book of children of servicemen/ESM/War Widow.
  7. 10 copies of a joint photo with family members, these including self, mother, father, unmarried brother and sister.

Selection process

At the recruitment rally, there will be a physical fitness test of 16km run, pull-ups, zigzag balance, and 9ft. ditch. All candidates should be medically fit, this being determined by a medical inspection. Candidates selected after the physical fitness and medical tests will then appear for an interview.

Terms of Service and facilities offered

The enrolled Territorial Army (TA) personnel will be governed by specific conditions of service which is as follows-
  1. The embodied service will be 8 months in a year.
  2. ESM and Ex-Women employees of MoEF&CC, and of the State Forest Department, except Junior Commissioned Officers, on recruitment will be enrolled as Sepy. Similarly, Ex-JCOs and Class II or equivalent Ex-Women employees of MoEF&CC and the State Forest Dept. will be enrolled in the rank of Naib Subedar.
  3. ESM and Ex-Women employees enrolled as Other Rank (OR) will serve only up to 50 years of age.
  4. Ex-JCOs and Class-II or equivalent Ex-Women employees can serve up to 55 years of age.
  5. The period of enrollment of all enrolled persons will be two years, commencing from the date of enrolment of service in the Infantry Battalions (TA) Ecological unit. This may be extended one year at a time, subject to satisfactory performance and suitability for further retention in service.

Basic pay and Dearness Allowance

All those who are enrolled will be entitled to the basic pay of their Rank and Service Group in which they are employed in the unit. DA will also be applicable as admissible from time to time.

Other Allowances

In addition to basic pay and DA, other admissible allowances include an allowance for children's education, Hill Compensatory allowance, House Rent allowance, Road mileage allowance, etc. However, annual increment and gratuity will not be admissible to ESMs and Ex-Women employees (including premature retirees). 30 days of annual leave and 15 days casual leave is authorized for part-time staff.
