Currently, BHEL has a requirement of apprentices for its EDN or Electronic Division in Bangalore. EDN Bangalore is one of the manufacturing units of BHEL that manufactures state of the art equipment in the field of power plant automation and control systems. It also manufactures IGBT based traction drive systems for locomotives and simulation systems & controls for ships of the Indian Navy. It has its presence in the renewable energy sector too, as it manufactures photovoltaic cells, solar panels, space batteries and other related equipment.
Vacancies for two kinds of apprenticeship are currently available at EDN Bangalore, graduate apprenticeship and technician apprenticeship. Following are the details.Graduate apprentices
These apprenticeships are meant for engineering degree holders. The number of vacancies available are five. Their branch wise distribution is as follows.
The minimum qualification required is a degree in engineering in any of the above streams from a recognized institution. Those who have attained their qualification in 2017, 2018 or 2019 are only eligible to apply.Technician apprentices
These are meant for diploma holders. There are 51 vacancies. The necessary qualification is a Diploma in Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering. The qualification should have been attained post 01.01.2017. Age limit
The applicant's age as on 01.12.2019 should not be less than 18 years. The maximum age limit is 27 years for applicants in the general category. For OBC applicants, the age limit is 30 years and for SC/ST, 32 years. PwD candidates with not less than 40% disability will be given 10 years relaxation in age.
For wards of serving or deceased BHEL employees, an additional 05 years relaxation in age is applicable.How to apply
Interested and eligible candidates to come for a walk-in-interview at Electronics Division (EDN) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited at Mysore Road, Bengaluru. The date of interview is 09.12.2019 from 9 am to 11 am and 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Candidates need to come with the original and two sets of following self-attested documents.

The selected candidates will be paid monthly stipend as follows. Mode of selection
The candidates will be selected merit wise, based on their consolidated marks in all the semesters or years, as applicable, during the course of their engineering education. In case the number of candidates for the walk-in-interview is more, the candidates will be then asked to submit the photocopy of their documents and selected candidates will be intimated later. Wards of BHEL employees would be given additional weightage.Important points to note
