BHEL Hyderabad recruitment for part time medical consultants


BHEL Hyderabad, through a recent notice, has invited applications from medical professionals to work in its hospital on a part-time basis. Interested candidates can go through this article to know the job details, eligibility criteria, selection procedure, work hours and remuneration.

About BHEL Hospital Hyderabad

The RC Puram Hyderabad unit is one of the major manufacturing units of the public sector giant BHEL. It manufactures an array of heavy engineering products like generators, turbines, compressors, condensers, heat exchangers, pumps, switchgear, and oil rigs. It has in its roll thousands of engineers and workers operating its plants in shifts. BHEL Hyderabad has a sprawling township of its own with quarters and other important facilities like schools, stadiums, parks, markets, gymnasium and recreation clubs. The company has its own hospital within the premises with facilities for both outpatients as well as inpatient treatment. Other than MBBS doctors, there are Specialist and Super Specialist medical professionals working with BHEL, both full-time as well as part-time. The hospital has every facility like laboratories, X-ray room, USG room, ECG room, emergency room, operation theatre, labour room and many more.

Part time positions for medical professionals

BHEL Hyderabad has recently advertised openings for part-time medical consultants in various disciplines. Depending upon the disciplines, there are four Position Codes, namely PTMC01, PTMC02, PTMC03 and PTMC04. The details of the various position codes are given as follows.

PTMC01 – Gastroenterology

One number Specialist or Super Specialist part-time medical consultant is required in the field of gastroenterology. Work hours are likely to be 3 hours a day for two days in a week.

Qualification required
  • Super Specialist – DM in Gastroenterology
  • Specialist – DNB in Gastroenterology
Remuneration per hour
  • Super Specialist – INR 640
  • Specialist – INR 500

PTMC02 – Urology

One number Super Specialist or Specialist required in the field of urology. Work hours expected are 4 hours a day once a week.

Qualification required
  • Super Specialist – MCH/DM in Urology
  • Specialist – DNB in Urology
Remuneration per hour
  • Super Specialist – INR 640
  • Specialist – INR 500

PTMC03 – General Surgery

One number Specialist General Surgeon required. Work hours will be 6 hours a day six days of the week.

Qualification required – MS/DNB in General Surgery
Remuneration per hour – INR 500

PTMC04 – MBBS

For this post, 3 numbers part-time medical consultants are required. The number of posts may vary depending upon the requirement of the hospital. Work hours to be 6 hours per day, six days of the week. The consultants will be required to work in shifts in the casualty/emergency department.

Qualification required – MBBS with one-year work experience.
Remuneration per hour – INR 340

Before applying, the candidates are to ensure that their degrees are recognized by the Medical Council of India and that they are registered with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council.

Age limit

The upper age limit is 65 years as on 01 Dec 2019. The upper age is relaxable for up to 70 years.

Period of engagement

The period of engagement is one year and purely a temporary one. Further renewal is subject to the candidate's performance and will be at the discretion of the BHEL management. For discontinuation, both the parties are to give a notice period of one month.

Filled up application form along with photocopies of the required documents are to be sent by post to the address given below.

Last date to apply

The application form along with the necessary documents is to reach the above address, latest by 27.12.2019. Late or incomplete applications will not be entertained by the recruiting authorities nor will there be any correspondence in this regard. Those employed in a government/semi-government/PSU/autonomous bodies are to apply through proper channel.

Documents to be sent

Self-attested photocopies of the following documents are to be sent along with the filled application form.
  • SSC certificate
  • MBBS degree certificate
  • For Specialist and Super Specialist posts MS/MCH/DNB/DM certificate, as applicable
  • Registration certificate for MBBS issued by Medical Council of India (MCI) or by any State Medical Council
  • Proof of recognition of MS/MCH/DNB/DM by MCI or any State Medical Council
  • Experience certificate, preferably on a letterhead of a hospital and issued by competent authority

Selection process

Candidates will be shortlisted through an interview. The dates of the interview will be intimated to the candidates later. There is no provision for paying any TA/DA to the candidates attending the interview.

Regarding conveyance allowance

While on duty, the consultants will be paid conveyance charges for to and fro travel from their residence to the workplace at the following rates.
  • For local travel up to 30 km one way, actual charges may be paid with a ceiling of INR 4,500 per month.
  • For distance above 30 km one way, a maximum of INR 6,000 per month be paid on a case to case basis.
