Requirement of Project Engineers and Supervisors for BHEL


BHEL has recently advertised a few openings for Project Engineers and Supervisors on a fixed tenure basis for a period of two years. Those with Civil Engineering background may apply for the same. Learn here the details of the advertisement and the recruitment process.

BHEL – a Maharatna PSU

BHEL or the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is a government of India owned enterprise in the field of heavy engineering. It has a number of manufacturing units, repair units, regional offices, overseas offices and numerous project sites. It has its footprints on many core sectors of the Indian economy, namely power, transportation, renewable energy, defence, oil & gas and many more. With the arrival of new opportunities, the company has also taken to diversification in a big way and is taking up projects such as railway line electrification, setting up sewage treatment plants as well as prestigious projects from the nuclear and the space industry. Many new opportunities are thus getting created for degree and diploma engineers to join BHEL and be part of its growth momentum.

Applications invited for

BHEL is currently inviting applications from degree and diploma engineers from the civil stream to apply as project engineers and project supervisors. The requirement is for BHEL's Semi-Conductors and Photo Voltaic Group. The selected candidates will be posted at project sites, anywhere in India. The recruitment will be on a fixed tenure basis for a period of 2 years or project completion, whichever is earlier. The placement is not on a permanent basis and does not entitle the candidate to claim for converting the employment into a permanent one. The period of engagement is only for 2 years .

Eligibility criteria

  • Project Engineers – BE/BTech in Civil Engineering, full time from a recognized university or educational institution with at least 60% marks in aggregate of all semesters. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum requirement is 50%. Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in the field of civil works in project sites is must for all applicants. The candidates should also have experience in the usage of designing tools like AutoCAD and STAADPRO. They should be experienced in carrying out activities like inspections, quality checks, analysing soil test reports, measurements and billings.

  • Project Supervisors – A full time Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution with at least 60% marks. For SC/ST candidates, the requirement is 50%. Minimum 1 year of post qualification experience in the field of civil works in construction projects as well as in areas such as quality checks, inspection, measurement and billing is essential.

Age limit

The age of the candidate should not be more than 33 years as on 01.12.2019. Reservation in posts and relaxation in age limit will be given as per government directives and rules applicable to different categories. The details of reservation quota and age relaxation are given in the recruitment notice itself.

Selection process

The selections will be done on the basis of personal interview. The ratio of number of vacancies to the number of candidates called for the interview will be 1:10. Candidates shortlisted for the interview will be informed through email. A valid email id is thus to be provided while applying.

Salaries and perks

  • Project Engineers – INR 66,000 per month
  • Project Supervisors – INR 36,850 per month

Other than the above monthly compensation, there will be facility to reimburse premium for Mediclaim policies up to 2 lakhs for self and family.

A fees of Rs 200 is to be paid online for candidates belonging to the General, OBC and EWS category. SC/ST and PwD (persons with disability) candidates need not to pay any fees. The details of the fees paid are to be entered in the online application form. Printouts of both the fees receipt and the submitted application form are to be taken and sent by post to the address mentioned below.

The envelop is to be super scribed – "Application for Project Engineer/Supervisor on Fixed Tenure Basis", as applicable. Need not to send any other documents, except for self-attested copies of respective category certificate.

Documents required at the time of interview

  1. High school or class 10 certificate for date of birth proof
  2. Degree/Diploma mark sheets of all semesters
  3. Experience certificate or appointment letter issued by last employer along with 1st and last pay slips
  4. Respective category certificate for candidates belonging to EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwD/Ex-servicemen category
  5. A self-undertaking by OBC candidates non-creamy layer (format available with the advertisement)
  6. For EWS candidates, a certificate from an officer not less than the rank of Tehsildar certifying the "Income and Assets of the Family"
  7. Any additional qualification, if acquired

Important points to note

  • Candidates working in government, semi-government, public sector companies or autonomous bodies to produce the 'No objection certificate' during the interview

  • Candidates coming for interview will be paid return 2nd class fare for trains
  • Indian nationals are only eligible to apply
