DRDO 2019-2020/MTS entrance test online applications for Multi-Tasking Staff recruitment

The Centre for Personnel Talent Development (CEPTAM) on behalf of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India is conducting a recruitment drive to hire Multi Tasking Staff (MTS), who will be appointed in the General Central Service Group 'C', non-Gazetted, Ministerial posts. The Pay scale of the appointed candidates will be as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix of Level-1 (Rs 18000-56900) and all benefits & allowances will be as per Govt. norms. To be eligible for the posts, interested applicants need to appear for an online test for which they need to register and apply online. Only citizens of India can apply.

DRDO MTS post details

There are 163 vacancies for SC candidates, 114 for ST candidates, 503 for OBC candidates, 188 for EWS candidates, 849 for UR category candidates, 135 for Ex-Servicemen (ESM), 50 for Meritorious Sports Person (MSP). In the case of PWD candidates, there are 18 each for A, B, and C category candidates, and 19 for D category candidates.

Once selected, you will be appointed on probation and will have to serve anywhere as and when required for a minimum of five years at the first place of posting. During this time, you cannot put any request for a transfer to another place, though you may be transferred to another location DRDO.

The cities of posting stations are Agra, Ahmednagar, Ahmednagar, Ambernath, Balasore, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Gwalior, Haldwani, Hyderabad, Jagdalpur, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Leh, Mumbai, Mussoorie, Mysore, Nasik, Panagarh, Pune, Tejpur, Visakhapatnam, and additional places as per the requirement of DRDO. Recruited candidates may be required to serve at field locations and remote areas. At the time of applying, candidates are allowed to give their preference for posting locations, but this cannot be changed later for any reason.

Eligibility requirements for DRDO MTS post

In order to be eligible to apply for the DDRO MTS post, you need to have passed the Class 10 exam or any equivalent exam from a recognized Board or have passed the exam from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI). Note that the educational qualification should be obtained as on the date of eligibility for the posts for which you are applying (refer to the list of important dates at the end of this article). In case you are still awaiting the results of the final exam as on that date, then you cannot apply.

With regard to age, your age should be between 18 and 25 years of age. This will be relaxed for SC/ST/OBCNCL/ESM/PWD/WIDOWS/Divorced Women/Women who are judicially separated from their husbands who are not remarried, Central Govt Civilian Employees, Disabled Defence Services Personnel, and persons who are domiciled in J&K State during the period from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1989 as per Govt. rules.

Since the work can be demanding and a posting may include a filed location or a remote area, you are expected to be fit and be in sound health, both physically and mentally. A medical exam will be done prior to receiving the letter of appointment.

Application process for DRDO MTS vacancies

On ensuring that you fulfill all the required eligibility requirements, you have to submit your application in online mode only at the DRDO official website . Only one application should be submitted. The first step is the registration process, wherein you provide all basic details to obtain a user ID and password, which is required for the online application. The mobile number which you provide should be one that can be used throughout the application process, including for the selection process later.

You will require to keep ready scanned copies of the following documents to be uploaded during the online process:
  1. The 10th Class or ITI Certificate for proof of age and education qualification.

  2. A recent colour photograph which has been taken within the last 30 days (also keep a number of copies of the same photo for later use).

  3. Signature on plain white paper. Ensure that the signature is in running handwriting and is the same throughout, for all documents.

  4. Identity proof, such as Aadhar Card or a Printout of E-Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, PAN, Driving License, Original 10th Certificate or ITI Certificate etc. This ID will be required to be brought in original for the entrance exam and verification of documents, as signatures in different styles may make the application ineligible.

On successful submission of the application, you should take a printout of application which is required to be duly signed and to be submitted later at the time of document verification, if you get shortlisted.

An application fee of Rs.100/- (this will not be refunded) has to be paid online through credit card/debit card/net banking. Only women and SC/ST/PWD/ESM candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.

Note: If you are serving in a Govt., PSU, an autonomous organisation, in the Armed Forces or are a Departmental candidate, then you must submit your application through the proper channel. Additionally, you will be required to obtain NOC from your present employer at the appropriate time during the document verification process if you are one of the shortlisted candidates.

DRDO MTS selection process and entrance exam

At the time of the online application process, you can select from the 42 locations which are provided up to three different cities as the preferred exam centre. The date, time, and venue of the exam will be given on the Admit Card, which will be available for download at the official website of DRDO about two weeks prior to the exam. The Admit Card should be downloaded and a print out has to be taken (preferably in colour) and must be brought to the exam centre on the date of the exam.

There are two levels of the selection process, namely Tier-I and Tier-II, as follows –

Tier I - Screening

Computer Based Test (CBT): There are three sections with objective type multiple choice questions - General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability (35 questions with 35 marks), General Awareness (30 questions with 30 marks), and Quantitative Aptitude & Numerical Ability (35 questions with 35 marks). The entire duration of this test is 90 minutes.

Candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in Tier-II based on Tier-I examination merit. 40% is the minimum qualifying marks for Tier-I for UR/ESM/OBC candidates and 35% for SC/ST candidates.

Tier II – Final Selection

Computer Based Test (CBT): There are three sections of objective type multiple choice questions - General Science (40 questions with 40 marks), General Maths (40 questions with 40 marks), and General English (20 questions with 20 marks). The entire duration of this test is 90 minutes.

Merit and final selection will be made on the basis of the performance of the candidates in Tier-II.
All the above exam sections will be in Hindi and English medium and no negative marks will be given for an incorrect answer.
