ARPIT 2020: Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching

Are you a working as a faculty in an University, college or institute? Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has announced the date of Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT) Examination 2020. Non-faculty learners can also participate in this career advancement scheme. All successful candidates will be issued a certificate by SWAYAM.

Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT) is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. MHRD first launched this online exercise on 13th November, 2018.

MHRD conducts this online exam using the MOOCs platform SWAYAM. Total 123 National Resource Centres (NRCs) have been identified for preparation of online training material, new refresher modules and recent developments in the discipline and uploading of online material. This material is made available through SWAYAM. NRC will also publish the list of the faculty and non-faculty learners who have been successful and receive the certificate.

Currently there are 48 courses included in ARPIT Exam.

Importance of ARPIT Exam:

This exam is equally beneficial for faculty as well as non-faculty learners. ARPIT is equivalent to a refresher course for faculty (reference: UGC DO Letter No. F.2-16/2002(PS) Pt.fI.II dated 03.12.2018). It is an assessment course exam and successful in-service faculty learners and non-faculty learners will get certified. It is a career advancement scheme.

ARPIT 2020

MHRD has announced the schedule of ARPIT Exam 2020. Examination will be conducted in 139 cities across the country by National Testing Agency (NTA). Exam would be a Computer Based Test and will be including 100 objective multiple choice questions of maximum 100 marks. Duration of exam will be 3 hours.

Important Dates:

  • Registration start date: 18.12.2019
  • Registration end date: 17.01.2020
  • Application form Correction : Jan 21-22, 2020
  • Issue of admit card: 29.01.2020
  • Date of Examination: 16.02.2020
  • Declaration of Result: 26.02.2020

Exam Schedule:

Exam will be held in two shifts:
  1. 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
  2. 2:30 PM to 05:30 PM

A learner would be able to choose only one course in each slot.

Fee Details:

For Faculty Learners: No fee is to be paid by faculty learners. Faculty has to produce relevant proof of being a faculty i.e. Faculty ID Proof/ Appointment Letter/ Latest Pay slip/ Promotion Order.

For non-faculty Learners:
  • Rs. 1000/- for general candidates and
  • Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Women/EWS with disability


All successful candidates would receive certificates based upon the grading system.
i. Marks obtained equals to or less than 50 = E
ii. Marks between 50-59 = D
iii. Marks between 60-69 = C
iv. Marks between 70-79 = B
v. Marks obtained equal to or greater than 80 = A
