About SEBI-ITD internship program The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced an internship program of its Information Technology Department (ITD), which primarily sets up and maintains the information technology systems of SEBI. The aim of the program is to provide training to 15 selected students of each of the institutes with which SEBI will partner, these institutes having their location in Mumbai or near the city. The students will work directly on projects which require data analytics' skills and IT skills, including those involving regulation processes and finance technology. The selected intern will be required to work on the assigned project for a minimum of three days a week, with the total duration of the program being one year.
Stipend and facilities The interns who are undergoing internship at SEBI's I.T. Department for three days in a week will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 25,000/- and will be allowed nine days leave in a year. Those undergoing internship at SEBI for four days in a week will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 30,000/- and will be allowed 12 days leave in a year.
Interns who are from outside Mumbai can get unfurnished shared accommodation, based on availability. Lunch will be provided at SEBI for all interns. Those who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate from SEBI.
SEBI-ITD internship program eligibility requirements for institutes Location: Your institute should be located either in Mumbai or somewhere around the city.
Number of students: Your institute should provide the profiles of a minimum of ten candidates who are keen on pursuing the internship and fulfil the requisite eligibility criteria for candidates (mentioned later in this article).
Courses: Your institute should be offering a full-time MBA or MCA course or any other equivalent Degree or Diploma of a duration of two years. The course must be recognized by AICTE.
Affiliation criteria: Your institute should mandatorily be –
Courses criteria: Your institute should arrange for its courses in such a way that it will allow the students to undergo the internship at SEBI for at least three days a week (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays) for a contiguous duration of minimum one year. This year may comprise either two semesters and one summer/winter internship or three trimesters and one summer/winter internship. Furthermore, the institute must provide the requisite academic credits for the internship undergone by their students as part of this program. These credits should be given on the basis of the performance assessment report of the intern provided by SEBI to the institute.
Eligibility of candidates in the institute As a student who wishes to enrol for the internship program, you must be a citizen of India, not more than 30 years of age as on 1st January 2020. On the academic front, you should be pursuing a full-time MBA/MCA or equivalent Degree or Diploma from an eligible institute, with the course duration of two years. You should hold a full-time Graduate Degree in engineering or a BCA degree, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks at the Graduate level or equivalent CGPA. You must have a strong aptitude for computer programming and data analytics. It would also be preferable to have a basic understanding of financial markets, but this is not a mandatory criterion.
Application process for SEBI ITD internship Interested institutes must submit their applications in the prescribed format along with all the relevant documents on or before 20th January 2020. The institute must also provide the profiles of the interested eligible candidates in the prescribed format. Selection process for SEBI ITD internship On receiving the expression of interest, the institutes may be shortlisted based on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) or based on any other widely accepted ranking. The candidates will be selected based on their academic records, work experience, knowledge of data analytics tools, knowledge of computer programming languages, etc. These candidates will be called for an interview at the Head Office of SEBI and will have to demonstrate their skills in the relevant fields. Their ability to solve problems and communication skills will also be assessed.
