How to Apply for IIT Roorkee Summer Internship 2020 under SPARK Program

Are you studying in any undergraduate program and looking for Summer Internships? IIT Roorkee has invited online applications for its institute-funded Summer Internship 2020 under SPARK Program. IIT Roorkee will also provide a weekly stipend of Rs.2500 to the interns. Eligible and desirous candidates can apply for the internship program. SPARK program

IIT Roorkee offers Institute-funded and project-funded summer internships for the talented students from all over the country under the SPARK program. The internship was started in 2018. It is a very successful program. The work of the interns was well recognized and published in many research reputed journals and presented in national as well as international conferences. In this program, students will work on some specific and focused projects advertised at the time of application.

IIT Roorkee Summer Internship 2020

IIT Roorkee has advertised an official notification and invited online applications for its institute funded IIT Roorkee Summer Internship 2020 – SPARK Program. Eligible and desirous candidates can apply for the internship program.

Program Objectives

The main objective of this programme is to attract young and talented undergraduate students from other institutes across the country and cultivate them for further study in postgraduate or doctoral studies at IITR.
Program is also running to provide research exposure to interested undergraduate students of IITR.


The intern will be given a stipend of Rs.2,500 per week.

How to apply

  • Application is to be submitted online Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee
  • First of all, students need to be registered themselves on the online portal and a login ID is to be created.
  • Next step is application form is to be filled and submitted after login.
  • Here the status of Application can also be checked.
  • Following documents are to be uploaded:
    1. Last semester mark sheet of current degree
    2. Recent photograph
    3. A 500-word research statement
    4. A brief 1-2 page resume
    5. Name of five faculty members with whom intern is interested in having a summer internship
    6. No Objection Certificate (NOC), in case of students from other institutes
    Note: NOC for students from other institute is mandatory at the time of joining

    Important date

    The last date for application submission is 29.02.2020.

    Declaration of result

    The results will be declared by the end of the March'2020.
    Note: Students of IITR will be allowed to start their internship immediately after the completion of the term-end examination.

    Duration of Internship

    The summer internship will be held during summer vacation i.e. at IIT Roorkee between 12th May and 10th July.
    Note: If the candidate is not available for the entire duration he may attend an internship for a shorter period. However, the term of the summer training should not be less than 6 weeks, in any case.

    Eligibility criteria

    Students who have completed 2 semesters of B.Tech / B.E./ B.Arch. / M.Sc. are eligible to apply for the internship.
    Note: Students from any institutes in India can apply. Students must be currently enrolled in any undergraduate course.

    Minimum CGPA criterion for internship

  • For IITs or IISc - CGPA > 7.5
  • For students of other institutes - CGPA > 8.5

  • Facilities during the internship

  • Accommodation and mess facilities will be provided to interns in the Bhawans of IIT Roorkee on payment basis.
  • The average cost of accommodation including mess facility would be around Rs.5500 per month.
  • Library, sports, medical, internet, computer centre, recreation facilities etc. will also be provided to the interns during the internship period. For this, a temporary institute ID will be issued.
  • All interns will be issued a certificate from the institute mentioning the name of the intern and mentor, signed by Dean, SRIC, IIT, Roorkee after the successful completion of the internship.
  • Note: Interns will be required to abide by the conduct rules of the institute, failing which the internship will be terminated.
