CII applications open for Industrial Proficiency Aptitude Test for Engineers (iPATE) Exam 2020

The Industrial Proficiency Aptitude Test for Engineers (iPATE) is also known as CII- iPATE. It is a technical recruitment process and an excellent initiative of CII. This online exam assess the technical talent across PAN India for the Indian Industry. Under this program top Engineers in various disciplines are recruited through an online exam conducted jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and CALNESTOR Knowledge Solutions. Successful candidates will receive scorecards which will be share with the Indian industry for further recruitment on the basis of scores and ranks.

Purpose of Exam

The exam will be conducted to recruit Engineers for Indian Industry on PAN-India basis. With this exam, CII assess industrial aptitude and proficiency of Engineering graduates across India. The main aim of the exam is to make students industry-ready.


  • B.E. / B.Tech completed after 10+2 (4 years course)
  • B.E. / B.Tech completed after B.Sc./Diploma in Engineering/Technology( 3 years course)
  • B.Arch / Naval Architecture/ Planning (4 - 5 years course)
  • Professional Society Examinations, must be equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech / B.Arch
  • B.E. / B.Tech/ B.Arch Final Year Students
  • Post Graduate (PG) Engineers and PG Engineering Students

  1. Mode of the Exam : ONLINE Computer-based Exam
  2. Mode of Application: Online
  3. Validity of CII iPATE score card: 3 years
  4. Duration of Exam: 3 hours
  5. Type of Questions: Multiple Choice or True/ False or Matching or Numerical type questions
  6. Number of Questions: 100 Questions
  7. Total Marks:: 100 Marks

Exam pattern

There will be three sections like
  • Section I : Cognitive Abilities
  • Section II : Professional Abilities
  • Section III : Technical Abilities

Validity of iPATE Score Card

Validity of iPATE score card is 3 years.

Applicants have to register themselves online on the website of CII- iPATE.

Steps to fill application form

Candidates should follow the below mentioned steps while filling application form of CII-iPATE application form 2020.

Step 1: Filling of Online Registration Form
To fill the application form candidates will have to click on the " Register Online". Then personal details, academic details are to be filled.
Personal Details: Following personal details are to be filled :
  1. Full Name
  2. Email
  3. Contact Number
  4. Date of Birth
  5. Aadhaar Number
  6. Correspondence Address
  7. Gender
  8. Upload Color Photograph
  9. Upload Signature

Academic Details: Following academic details are to be filled in application form:
  1. Educational Qualification
  2. Status of Education - Final year/pursuing/Complete
  3. Institute Name and Address
  4. Engineering Discipline
  5. Preferred Exam centre location

After entering the personal and academic details, the declaration box is to be checked. Then application form is to be submitted by clicking on "Submit" button and payment is to be made.
Candidates can also take a print out of the application form for future reference.

Note: Candidates should be careful about the application form fill up and review it before application fee payment as no change can be made in the entered data after payment of fee.

Step 2: Payment of Application Fee
After submitting the form, candidates will have to pay the application fee of INR 1,500.00 (inclusive GST). Payment is to be made either through credit/debit card or internet banking.

CII- iPATE Exam Centres

While filling application form, candidates can choose exam centres in their preferred cities across different States & UTs of India. Exam centres will be in the major cities of States/UTs of India. All exam centres are divided under five regions of CII as given below:
  1. CII – East Region: Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal
  2. CII – North Region: Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand
  3. CII – North East Region: Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura
  4. CII – South Region: Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Telangana
  5. CII – West Region: Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra

Application Scrutiny and Rectification

Application form will be scrutinized by the authorities for accuracy of data. Acceptance will be given if all details are found correct.
In case of any defect rectification will be required. Candidates will be informed about the rectification through mail. Candidates will have to correct details within stipulated time period.

Note: If candidate fails to correct details his application will get rejected.
