About the Fellowship Scheme
The Newton International Fellowship Scheme was started in 2008. The fellowship is provided by the Royal Society, British Academy and Academy of Medical Sciences. The main motive behind this fellowship is to select the excellent early-career postdoctoral researchers from all over the world. In this fellowship, researchers are allowed to work at UK research institutions for two years. From 2015 onward, some additional Fellowships are also being assisted through the Government Newton Fund for partner countries. The Newton Fund is a scheme that endeavors to develop the long-term sustainable growth and well-being of the partner country through building research and innovation capacity. The Newton International Fellowship will be granted for up to two consecutive years.What is the Fellowship Value?
Fellowship values are provided to fellows at a subsistence rate of £24,000 per annum, which includes: research expenses, relocation expenses (in the first year of fellowship), and contribution to overheads at UK Host Organization.
Successful applicants may also be eligible to receive annual funding following the completion of their fellowship to support networking activities with UK-based researchers.
Payments of fellowships are made quarterly in March, June, September and December.
