National Aptitude Test in Architecture(NATA) 2020 Notification details

About NATA

Council of Architecture (CoA) is conducting National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) since 2006. CoA is a statutory authority of the government of India. NATA is a national level exam conducted for admission to a five-year B.Arch program in various architectural institutions approved by the council. NATA expects the candidates to possess the following skills - drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, physics, chemistry and mathematics at intermediate level (10+2) and critical thinking ability. NATA 2020 will be conducted twice a year, the first test on 19th April 2020 and the second test on 31st May 2020 at various centres located all over India. NATA consists of 2 parts: Part A and Part B.

Part A:
It is a paper-based test on drawing in A4 Size paper which consists of three questions carrying 35, 35, 55 marks respectively, the total for 125 marks. The duration of the exam is 135 minutes.

Part B:
It is an online test that consists of 15 multiple choice questions on PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and 35 multiple choice questions on General Aptitude and Logical Reasoning, the total for 75 marks. The duration of this exam is 45 minutes.



Qualifying marks for NATA 2020

The qualifying marks for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2020 will be based on the following three rules:
  1. Candidates must secure a minimum of 32 marks in part A out of 125 marks.
  2. Candidates must secure a minimum of 18 marks in part B out of 75 marks.
  3. Overall qualifying marks will be decided based on post-exam statistics and decision of the council.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria to take the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2020:
  • Candidates who have passed 10+2 level exam with minimum 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and also minimum 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level exam. Or
  • Candidates who have passed the 10+3 diploma exam with maths as compulsory subject and with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Candidates appearing for the final exam of the qualifying exam this year can also apply.
  • 5% marks relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD candidates.

Application process

Interested and eligible candidates willing to apply for NATA 2020 can apply online at the official website. Candidates have to fill in the application form and have to upload the images of the recent passport size photograph in color and signature in jpg/ jpeg format. Candidates have to pay the application fee of Rs. 2000/- (Rs. 1,700/- for SC/ ST and PwD category candidates) through credit card/ debit card/ net banking. If candidates want to appear for both first and second tests, then they have to pay the application fee of Rs. 3800/- (Rs. 3,100/- for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates). It is not mandatory to appear in the two tests, candidates can appear for both or for one test either first or second.

  • Last date to upload images: 20th March 2020
  • Last date to pay the application fee: 20th March 2020
  • Date of availability of correction window: 21st March to 23rd March 2020
  • Date of availability of admit card to download: 4th April 2020
  • Date of first NATA 2020 exam: 19th April 2020 from 10 am to 1.15 pm
  • Date of announcement of results: 8th May 2020
For the second test:
  • Start date to apply online: 1st February 2020
  • Last date for registration: 4th May 2020
  • Last date to upload images: 8th May 2020
  • Last date to pay the application fee: 8th May 2020
  • Date of availability of correction window: 9th May to 11th May 2020
  • Date of availability of admit card to download: 21st May 2020
  • Date of second NATA 2020 exam: 31st May 2020 from 10 am to 1.15 pm
  • Date of announcement of results: 14th June 2020
