How to apply for NASI-Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Awards 2020

NASI has invited nominations for the NASI-Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Awards for the year 2020. About NASI

The National Academy of Sciences, India was instituted in 1930. Professor Meghnad Saha was the first President of Academy. NASI provides a national platform to the Indian scientists for publishing their research work and to provide opportunities for sharing of their views. Academy follows the Rules and Regulations of the Royal Society of England and the Asiatic Society of Bengal. However, these rules and regulations have since been amended and updated according to the requirements and to meet the emerging challenges.

Objective of NASI

The main objectives of the Academy are to promote scientific and technological research related to the problems of societal welfare. Academy also publishes the research of scientist in their proceedings, memoirs, and journals. Meeting are also organized by the academy to discuss scientific and technological problems.

Name of Award

Award will be named as NASI- Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Awards and individuals who will receive the award will be called as NASI- Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Awardee.

Aim of Award

The award has been started by the NASI to identify creativity and excellence in young scientists. The award shall be made in recognition of significant contributions made by him/her in any branch of S&T recognized by the NASI based on the work carried out in India.

Eligibility for NASI Award-2020

  • NASI has invited nominations for the NASI- Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Awards for the year 2020.
  • The applicant should be an Indian national or a foreign citizen of Indian origin working in India.
  • Age must be below 35 years as on April 15, 2020.

Number of Awards: There will be five awards. The number of awards remains the same in any year.

Value of Awards

The awardee will be provided with a Citation, Bronze Medal along with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-.


The nomination of an applicant can be done by a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India. However, applicants proposed by Scientific Society of national standing, university faculty, Post-Graduate department or research institutions are also considered for award.
Note: Only one-time nomination of an applicant will be done. However, a nomination once has done will remain valid for consideration for 3 years.

How to Apply

  1. To fill the nomination application, the prescribed form is to be filled. Nomination application format can be downloaded from the website of National Academy of Sciences.
  2. Full details of Award are also available on the website of National Academy of Sciences.
  3. Twenty(20) sets of nomination form completed in all respect and one soft copy preferably in CD will have been submitted by the applicant and must reach academy.
  4. In addition to nomination form (20 sets), 20 copies of reprints of 5 most important publications are to be submitted.
  5. Candidate should also submit all supporting documents along with nomination form.

Selection of the Awardees

Selection of Awardee will be made as per Regulations of NASI.

Presentation of the Awards

The Awards will be presented to awardees during the 90th Annual Session of NASI, which will be held in December 2020.

Important Date

The last day of sending complete applications is 15 April 2020.
