Indian Culinary Institute has announced the admissions' notification for its Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Culinary Arts course at its two campuses at Tirupati and Noida for the academic session 2020-2022. Students keen on pursuing this course need to appear for an All-India entrance exam.

About MBA in Culinary Arts

The curriculum for the Master of Business Administration in Culinary Arts has been designed by experts in the academic field in collaboration with those in the hospitality industry. The two-year course is offered in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, with 30 seats at each of the ICI campuses, namely at Tirupati and at Noida. Culinary skills and kitchen management skills are developed through both theoretical lessons and practical sessions. A fulfilling career in the hospitality sector awaits those who successfully complete this course.

MBA in Culinary Arts Eligibility requirements

Academic qualifications

You must have completed a full-time regular program and passed the final exam of a Bachelor's Degree course in Culinary Arts/Hospitality/Hotel Management (BBA in Culinary Arts, B.Sc. in HHA, BHM, BHMCT) from a recognized University in India. A qualifying degree from a foreign university is acceptable as per the AIU foreign equivalence list. The minimum marks in the qualifying Degree exam are 50% for OBC candidates, and 45% in the case of SC and ST candidates.

Those currently appearing in the Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts/Hospitability/Hotel Management can also appear for the entrance test, but are required to show proof of having passed the qualifying exam at the time of admission or latest by 30th September 2020.

Age criteria

The upper age limit is 25 years as on 1st August 2020 for candidates from General and OBC categories. Age relaxation of five years is available for SC/ST candidates. The date of birth should be as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate for it to be considered as authentic documentary proof for age criteria.

Fitness

You will be required to give documentary proof of physical fitness at the time of admission. Accordingly, download the physical fitness certificate in the prescribed format which is available in the official brochure, and get it attested by a Registered Medical Practitioner.

MBA in Culinary Arts Exam paper format

The two-hour paper will be in English only, with 20 marks for each of the five sections, which are: Food production/management; Food and Beverage Service/management; Analytical Aptitude/IQ; Human resource and strategic management; Communication skills in English.

Application fee

For General, EWS and OBC candidates the application fee is Rs.1000/-, while for SC/ ST/ PD candidates the fee is Rs.500/- .

MBA in Culinary Arts Application procedure

First download the information brochure from the official website of the Indian Culinary Institute or from www.thims.gov.in. Go through the details of the course, fees, guidelines to apply, etc. Then submit the online application latest by 27th April 2020.

Take a print out of the submitted online application. This, along with a photograph, the required documents and a Demand Draft (DD) towards the payment of the application fee (DD should be in favor of ICI, payable at Noida) should be sent no later than 30th April 2020 to:

Note: Send the above only by Registered Post or Speed Post. However, you can also submit it personally at the Noida campus of the Indian Culinary Institute.

MBA in Culinary Arts Admission Schedule

Last date to submit the online application: 27th April 2020.
Last date of receipt of print out of application with application fee: 30th April 2020.
Admit Card available for download: 8th May 2020 to 16th May 2020.
Date of Written Test: 16th May 2020, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The time of reporting to the test centre is 9 a.m.
Result of Written Test and allotment of seat: 29th May 2020.
First-round seat allotment: 1st June 2020.
Reporting of the first round: 2nd June to 6th June 2020.
Second round seat allotment: 11th June 2020.
Reporting of the second round: 12th June to 16th June 2020.
Final round allotment: 22nd June 2020.
Final round reporting: 24th June to 30th June 2020.
Induction for 2020-21 batch begins on 14th July 2020 onward, at NOIDA and Tirupati campuses.
