MS Bioengineering is a 2-year programme where the students have to undergo course work at the first year and have to complete a research project at the final year. This course offered at CMC is awarded by the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum (an Institute of National Importance, Govt of India). Bioengineering is an interdisciplinary field which primarily covers the basic science and applied research to develop and translate engineering solutions to problems in biology or medicine. This course has engineering as its base and includes the disciplines of instrumentation, signal processing, Physics, robotics and computational methods applied to physiology and medicine.
The aim of MS Bioengineering course at CMC is to develop the best global practices in interdisciplinary biomedical engineering research and development to address healthcare problems. The research programmes done in the field of Bioengineering at CMC focuses on Physiological Measurements and Analysis, Biophysics & Electrophysiology, Sensors & Instrumentation, Sensor Control & Learning and Rehabilitation Engineering. The student research programmes conducted at CMC is jointly supervised by the faculty of clinical and basic medical science departments. The Bioengineering Department also works closely with Physiology, Physical Medicine, Surgery, Rehabilitation and several other departments operating at CMC.Who can apply

All the interested and eligible candidates can download the application form from the official website of CMC.
The candidates need to fill the form with the correct details and have to affix their recent colour photograph in the form. Also, while filling the form, the candidates must provide their GATE score, the branch and the year of exam in the space provided in the application form. All the fields in the form should be filled as per the guidelines.
The application form fee for Indian candidates is Rs. 1,300/- For the candidates who are applying from SAARC countries, the application form fee is Rs.2500/- or equivalent. For the candidates who are applying from other foreign countries, the application form fee is 100 USD or its equivalent.
The application form fee must be paid through the challan at any branch of ICICI Bank. For the fee payment, the candidates are requested to use the ICICI bank challan attached along with the form. Once the payment is done, candidates must fill the details like Branch Name, Challan Number and Date in the application form.
The filled-in application form along with the copies of the following enclosures must be sent to "The Registrar, CMC, Vellore 632 002 on or before the last date (15th April 2020).

All eligible candidates who have applied for MS Bioengineering at CMC have to attend the written test and interview. The test and interview will be conducted at Vellore campus in May 2020. Based on the overall performance of the candidates in the written test and interview, the college will prepare a rank list and will admit the candidates into the course depending upon the vacancy. All the selected candidates for final admissions into the MS Bioengineering course at CMC will receive a stipend as postgraduates.
The total number of seats available at the college for MS Bioengineering course is 5. The selection of the candidates for MS course will be done as per the directives of the CMC Vellore Council. 50% of seats are reserved for Minority Network candidates who fulfil all the eligibility criteria for admission. However, more than 50% of the available seats may be allotted to Minority Network candidates based on their final ranking. The waitlist will be based on ranking in the selection list. If anyone of the Minority Network candidate does not accept the seat, then the college will offer that seat to the next candidate on the waitlist by rank irrespective of whether he or she belongs to Minority Network or open category.Important dates
