How to apply for Rajya Sabha Internships for Graduates and Postgraduates

About Internship

Rajya Sabha internship will provide an opportunity for the interns to understand and learn the working of Indian Parliament, especially the Rajya Sabha under the head 'Rajya Sabha Research and Study (RSRS) Scheme'.

Rajya Sabha is inviting applications from eligible students to apply for the internship programme. Interested candidates can send their application within stipulated timeline either in offline or online mode.

Eligibility Criteria

The student who has secured a graduate or postgraduate degree in any discipline are eligible to apply.

Selection of Intern

Selection of the interns will be done by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, as per the direction of Secretary-General, Rajya Sabha.

Engagement of Interns

Interns would be engaged in a different section of the Secretariat to learn its functioning. They will be supervised by the Head of the Branch of the Legislative Section, Bill Office, Table Office, Committee Sections, etc.

Duration of Internship

The maximum duration of the internship will be two months from the date of the award of the Internship.


A monthly stipend of Rs.10,000/- per month consolidated will be provided to the intern.

Orientation Program

An orientation program will be organised for the briefing to the interns at the starting of the Internship programme.

Reporting of Interns

It is mandatory for an intern to submit a report about the work done and learning experience to their mentor or supervisor.

Award of Certificate

An internship completion certificate will also be provided to all successful interns on successful completion of the Internship.

How to apply

  1. The candidates who wish to apply for the internship can get information about eligibility criteria, duration and application submission deadline from the official website of Rajya Sabha.
  2. The candidates can download and fill the application form from the official website as per the format available at Annexure V in brochure.
  3. The candidates must send the duly filled applications to the head of 'Rajya Sabha Research and Study (RSRS) Scheme' on their email ID i.e. or by post.

The application submission is now open and will be closed on March 31, 2020.
