National Institute of Technology Agartala is situated in the Agartala, State of Tripura. It is popularly known as NIT Agartala or NITA. It is one of the leading technical institutes in North-East India. The institute was established by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India as Tripura Engineering College in 1965. Later, it gained the status of Institute of National Importance and declared as a National Institute of Technology (NIT) in 2006. The Department of Bioengineering is one of the vivacious departments of the institute working extensively in a multidisciplinary field. Department is working in the major thrust areas of Biochemical engineering, Bioinformatics, Immunology, Nanobiotechnology and Industrial biotechnology. Every year, the Department of Bioengineering, NIT Agartala invites applications from undergraduate Biotechnology/Bioengineering students to participate in the summer training program.

Name of the Summer Training

Introductory training in handling instruments in Microbial cell handling and Upstream & Downstream processing of microbial cell.

Duration of the Training

The Department of Bioengineering, National Institute of Technology, Agartala would offer Summer Training Program 2020 to the selected candidates from May 18th through June 19th 2020.

Timings of the Training

Training will start from 9:30 am and will run up to 5:00 pm.

Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate students of B.E./B.Tech in Biotechnology/ Bioengineering, or any other relevant discipline are eligible to apply for the summer internship program.

Application Procedure

  1. Applicants are need to send the original copy of the application form filled up in all respect along with all required documents to the Department of Bioengineering, NIT Agartala before the last date.
  2. However, applicants are also requested to send a soft copy (scanned copy) of the same by e-mail before 12th May 2020, positively.
  3. Application form can be downloaded from the official website of National Institute of Technology, Agartala or from the following link.


Selection Procedure

Selection of the suitable candidates will be done by a departmental committee. Shortlisted candidates will be intimated via mail.

Application Fee

There will be a training fee of Rs. 6,000/– per participant will have to be paid by the selected candidates. A demand draft of Rs. 6,000/– drawn in favour of Registrar, NIT Agartala payable at Agartala would have to be submitted to the department at the time of admission by the candidate.

Hostel Facility

To all participating students, hostel and mess facility may be provided. However, this facility will be provided based on the availability only.
Note: The candidates will be charged additionally who avail these facilities as per institute norms.

Issue of Certificate

Upon successful completion of training, the Department of Bioengineering, National Institute of Technology, Agartala will be issuing certificates to the participants.
