Types of Fellowship

Individual fellowships are of two types:
European Fellowships:
  • European fellowship gives the opportunity to research who want to work in Europe.
  • Researchers will work in the European Union or associated countries.
  • It also encourages researchers coming to Europe from other parts of the world.
  • The researcher can also come back to Europe to get a new position.
  • In this fellowship, researchers can restart their career after a break, like parental leave.
  • Duration: European fellowship lasts between 1-2 years.
Global Fellowships
  • In Global fellowship, EU or associated countries based researcher get positions outside Europe.
  • However, the researcher will have to come back for one year to an organisation based in the EU or associated countries.
  • Duration: Global fellowship lasts between 2-3 years.

Secondment Period

A secondment period of up to 3-6 months will be there in both types of fellowships which is to be spent in another organisation in Europe.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants should hold a PhD degree.
    or
    He /she must have four years' full-time research experience.
  • Only experienced researchers are eligible to apply under this scheme.
  • Any national across the world can apply.

Funding Criteria

Under this fellowship scheme, research projects from any of the disciplines like physics, mathematical modelling, health sciences and linguistics etc. can be considered for funding.

Funding Details

The fellowship amount will include living cost, travel allowance, and family costs. Apart from this, research costs, the training, networking costs of the fellow, management and indirect costs of the project will be contributed by the EU. Fund receiving organizations will be usually a university, research centre or a company in Europe.
