About NBIMG

National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBM), West Bengal is working in the field of genomic medicines for a very long time. It is an autonomous institute which works under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The institute is working research to know the genetic basis of all major human diseases of public health importance. The institute is basically working as an enabler of Genomic Medicine by converting its research findings through a team formation and collaboration to reduce the disease load.

About GenomeIndia Project

The GenomeIndia Project is instituted by more than 20 institutions and is sanctioned by DBT for a period of three years. The main objective of this project is performing whole-genome sequencing (WGS) of a total of 10,000 people representing the diverse Indian population and to prepare a detailed record of genetic variations. After the completion of this project, an additional database of genetic variation in different Indian populations will be available that will be a huge scientific resource for the country. The candidates will be posted at the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, West Bengal.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications: The candidates must hold a PhD in Human Genetics/Life Science/Bioinformatics/Allied Sciences and the like.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. The candidates must have experience in handling genotype microarray and next-generation sequencing platforms.
2. He should have experience in the analysis of large scale genomic data using SNP-array and NGS.
3. He must have a good working knowledge of Unix.
4. He should have good scientific publications in reputed journals.
5. He should have experience in field data collection.
6. He must have good communication skills so that he can interact with people in the field.

Job Description

The post-doctoral fellow will be engaged in the management and coordination of samples within the laboratory and also in hands-on work.
They will have to do the planning and carrying out data analysis in a time-bound manner.
Operation and maintenance of software analysis will be done by post-doctoral fellow.
Besides, they will be involved in the operation of tools for genomic applications.
Finally, the report will also be prepared by the fellows.

Emoluments

The retainer fee of INR 58280/- per month (consolidated) will be paid to the post-doctoral fellows.

Mode of Selection

Selection of the applicants will be based on the personal interview or written test. After the screening of applications, only the shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview or written test.
Please note that there is no provision of providing TA/DA for attending the interview or written test.
