Confusion of almost 25 lakh examinees has come to the end! It was informed by CBSE on its official website earlier that the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank will interact directly with students, parents as well as teachers via Twitter and Facebook to reply to all queries of the students. Accordingly, live interaction with students was organized on 5th May 2020 and during this webinar the new schedule of exam dates of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 was announced by the Minister.
Initially, it was planned to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and NEET 2020 in April. But those were re-scheduled by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to take place in the last week of May 2020 instead of 5th, 7th to 9th and 11th April 2020 that were mentioned in the issuing notice on its website on 31st March 2020 due to the nationwide lockdown for corona outbreak. All examinees were awaiting the new dates since then, which is now further postponed as the lockdown has been extended till 17th May as of now.
What the HRD minister has exactly announced
The HRD minister announced that the process of examination for JEE Main and NEET 2020 will be stated in the month of July and the new academic session will be commencing by the month of August of the present academic year. However, as of now, the new dates are as follows:
The Minister also added that the pupils will have a reduced syllabus in the next academic session as they have already lost their valuable academic time. As he stated, the "loss of instructional time" for a "proportionate reduction" in the syllabus will be assessed by CBSE, and JEE 2021, as well as NEET 2021, will be organized based on the reduced syllabus only.

Due to the impending virus threat, the authorities are forced to postpone these important exams for which so many students are contending, preparing and anxiously waiting. If the virus threat is accelerated and the situation becomes difficult then the authorities have no other way other than the few more such postponements which eventually will be a loss to the students. I feel that students should continue with their preparations. There is no point in becoming panicky or discouraged as it would hamper their performance in the possible forthcoming entrance examination.
