Applications open for Internship Programme at Department of Economic and Policy Analysis, SEBI

About SEBI

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) was established in 1988 and given Statutory Powers in 1992 by Government of India through the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992. SEBI is the regulatory body of the financial market of India and it was established to regulate the securities and capital market and to protect the retail investors of the market.
The main functions of SEBI are:

To protect the interests of investors in the securities market.
To promote the development of securities market.
To regulate the business in security markets and stock exchanges.
To promote and regulate self-regulatory organizations.

Eligibility Criteria

Only Indian citizens can apply for this internship.
Only PhD candidates can apply.
The applicant must have completed at least two years in their full-time PhD program from a recognized Institute/ University.
For SEBI internship, part-time PhD students will be considered.
The candidate must have done PhD thesis work related to Financial Economics.
The candidate must have minimum 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA grade at postgraduate level.

Other Requirements

Essential requirement: Knowledge and skills in Statistics at 10+2 level is mandatory.
Desirable requirement: R or Python programming knowledge

Age Limit

The candidate should be 35 years or below as on April 04, 2020.

Duration of the Internship

The internship will be running for one year depending upon the requirement of SEBI.

Emoluments

Each intern will be provided with a monthly stipend of Rs.35,000.

Facilities

Interns who are from outside Mumbai, unfurnished accommodation will be provided on a shared basis.
Lunch/refreshment etc. Will also be provided to interns.

Submission of Application

For the internship, the candidate must forward his application through the Head of the Department of the institute or university.
Individual applications will not be considered in any circumstances.
In the application Head of the Department of University or Institute should clearly state the candidates' eligibility criteria.
HOD must recommend the candidate's name in the application for an internship at SEBI.
Application is to be submitted in hard copy as well as soft copy.

Selection Process

Candidates will have to send the hard copy application through their Head of the Department of the institute or university.
Individual applications will not be entertained.
The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed.
Only the selected candidates will be informed about their selection for the internship.

Application Submission Deadline

The last date of application submission to SEBI is June 10, 2020.

Data Privacy

Any confidential internal data that will be shared with the intern during his internship shared will be the property of SEBI and interns will be refrained from making any personal use of the confidential data.

Appointment Claim

It is to be mentioned that no intern will be able to claim his/ her appointment in the Securities and Exchange Board of India under their internship.
