This article is about the Acharya Narendra Dev College located at Kalkaji in New Delhi. The college has received A grade by NAAC and the CGPA score of the college is 3.31. The institute was established in 1991. It was established as a constituent college of the University of Delhi and is a government-aided college by the Government of the National Capital Territory, Delhi. The college offers Bachelor in Science courses in the subjects of Biomedicine. It also offers Post Graduate degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics. ANDC Highlights

Acharya Narendra Dev college was established in 1991. It is a completely government funded college and has a CGPA of 3.31 and A grade in NAAC. It is approved by the UGC, University of Delhi and offers 20 courses across 4 streams. The most popular courses offered by the college are B.Sc and certificate courses in foreign languages. Applications for the courses can be done online through the University of Delhi website. For the Undergraduate level courses, the admissions are done based on merit score and rank in the 12th standard. There are usually 4 to 5 rounds of admissions. The college also has a placement and career counselling cell. Various companies like HCL, Wipro, Genpact, Indigo airlines have approached the college for campus interviews and placements. Recently, the college has been conferred a special status by the Central government of DST star. It is also an incubation centre for many of the short courses put up by DTTE and MSME.

ANDC Facilities

The Acharya Narendra Dev college provides various facilities for students.
  • Theatre: The most prominent is the Theatre in the premises of the college. The college also conducts a short term 120-hour course called ECPDT
  • Laboratories: The college has various laboratories to offer a practical oriented education. The laboratories are equipped with high-end technology instruments which help the students to perform experiments for their projects
  • Library: The library of the college has 26,170 books. It also houses journals and periodicals. It also uses LibSys software to manage the huge collection. The students can take 4 books for 2 weeks, while Postgraduate students can take 5 books for a month

ANDC Faculty

The Acharya Narendra Dev College has a strong faculty for all the departments. As of 2019, the college has a total of 72 permanent faculty. Of these, there are 25 Assistant Professors and 47 Associate Professors. 60 of these are qualified with Ph.D. The college also has 43 guest faculty who teach about advancement in the subjects which are not given usually in the curriculum. The current acting principal is Dr Ravi Toteja.

The college has an approved intake of 680 undergraduate students per year. For Post graduate courses, the college has an approved capacity of 62.

B.Com. Hons. Admission eligibility criteria

  • For the B.Com (Hons.) course the candidate should have gained at least 45% aggregate in the 12th standard or equivalent examination.
  • The student should have passed in Mathematics or Business Mathematics as one of the subjects.
  • One language mark and best of three other subjects will be considered.
  • The subjects being considered for Best of three are Mathematics, Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies.

For B.Sc. courses

  • For the admission of B.Sc. courses, students should have at least 50% marks in English.
  • Biomedical Science - 55% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students with 60% marks and above, will be given additional % weightage.
  • Botany, Zoology - 55% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Biotechnology.
  • Physics, Chemistry, Electronics - 55% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Computer Science - 60% or more in Mathematics, 60% or more aggregate in 4 subjects which have Mathematics, one language and 2 other subjects.
  • Life Sciences - 45% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology.
  • Mathematics - 50% in Mathematics and 45% in qualifying examination
  • Physical Sciences - 45% in Physicals, Chemistry and Mathematics

For M.Sc. courses

Admission will be done on the basis of merit in the undergraduate qualifying examination.

The Acharya Narendra Dev College offers a good placement and career counselling support for the students. In the year 2014-15, 134 students got placement from the campus itself. In 2015-16 only 44 students got selected while in the next academic year, 94 got selected. The median salary received per annum by the students was 240,000 INR.

  • 3 Jun 2020 : ANDC college has notified revaluation and rechecking of results. Last date for submission of forms is 15 June 2020. Fees for Revaluation is INR 1000 per paper. Fees for rechecking of results is INR 750 per paper.
  • Practical examination for all courses being conducted through May and June 2020.
  • Admissions for the academic year 2020-21 delayed due to coronavirus concerns.
