How to Apply for Technical and Non-Technical Positions at CIPET, Chennai


Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET) has released the official notification for the recruitment of various positions and invited applications from brilliant and motivated candidates for the Technical and Non-Technical positions for its existing and upcoming centres all over the country. Interested candidates can apply for the positions on or before 15.06.2020. Know the details of the positions and eligibility criteria in this article.

About CIPET

Government of India established Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Chennai in 1968 with the support of UNDP. The AICTE approved institute is administered by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and is affiliated with Anna University. The main aim behind the establishment of the institute was to develop talent in Plastics Engineering and Technology. The Institute provides technical education and has a NABL accredited plastic testing centre which also provides various support services in plastics technology.

Details of Positions

Posts are classified according to the CIPET recruitment rules as Group-A, Group-B and Group-C.

Group-A

  1. Post name:Senior Officer (Personnel & Administration)
    No. Of Vacancies: Total numbers of vacancies are 04 including 01 for Un-reserved, 02 for Other Backward Class and 01 for Scheduled Caste.
    Salary and Allowances: VII CPC Pay Matrix Level: 11 Basic Pay Rs. 67,700/- plus allowances as per CIPET Rules and Regulations
  2. Post Name: Officer (Personnel & Administration)
    No. Of Vacancies: There are total 06 vacancies, out of which 02 are un-reserved, o1 for Other Backward Class, 01 for Economically Weaker Section and 02 for Scheduled Caste.
    Salary and Allowances: VII CPC Pay Matrix Level: 10 Basic Pay Rs. 56,100/- plus allowances such as DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, Washing Allowance etc. as per CIPET Rules and Regulation.

    Age limit: For the post of Senior Officer, the maximum age limit is 40 years. While for Officer, the maximum age limit is 35 years. However, age relaxation will be given to SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per the guidelines of Central Government. Apart from this, the candidates with an outstanding track record will also be given an age relaxation of up to 3 years subject to such recommendation from the Screening Committee/Selection Committee and approval of the Competent Authority.

    Qualification Requirement
    Educational qualification: For the post of Senior Officer/ Officer (Personnel & Administration), the applicant must have a graduate degree in any discipline from any recognized University plus MBA or post-graduation in Public Administration or PG diploma in Management with a minimum of 55% marks at Graduation and Post Graduation Level.

    Experience:For the post of Senior Officer, the candidate must have a minimum of 08 years of post-qualification experience in HR, administration, personnel, purchase functions etc. in a reputed organization. Out of which at least 3 years experience must be in pay matrix level-10. An applicant's candidature will also be considered in case if he has a total of 8 years experience in pay matrix levels 10 & 09 under the Central Government or State Governments. However, in case of the post of Officer the candidates must have at least 05 years of post-qualification experience in HR, administration, personnel, purchase functions etc., out of which 03 years experience must be in pay matrix level-9 or 13 years total in pay matrix levels 9 to 7 counted together, under the Central Government or State Governments or autonomous bodies or statutory organizations or private organization in equivalent scale.

    Desirable Qualification: For both the posts the candidates must have good oral as well as written communication skills. He must have computer handling knowledge and acquaintance and experience of modern management practices and the ability to handle online classes. He should have sound knowledge of govt. rules and regulations with regards to administration, establishment and personnel matters.

    Skills requirement for Senior Officer /Officer: He must know about manpower planning, recruitment, wage & salary administration, maintenance of service records and employee welfare schemes. He should be well aware of the contract labour management, execution of contract agreements & estate management, employee disciplinary or legal matters, management information system, performance management etc.
  3. Post Name: Technical Officer (Processing / Testing / Tool Room)
    No. Of vacancies: There are total 10 vacancies, out of which 03 are un-reserved, 03 for Other Backward Class, 01 for Economically Weaker Section, 02 for Scheduled Caste and 01 for Scheduled Tribe.
    Salary and Allowances: VII CPC Pay Matrix Level: 10 Basic Pay Rs. 56,100/- plus allowances as per CIPET Rules and Regulation.

    Age limit: Maximum age limit for the post of Technical Officer is 35 years, which is relaxable in case of SC/ST/OBC and other Category as per Central Government Rules. Outstanding candidates may be given a minimum of 03 years age relaxation on recommendation from the Screening Committee and approval of the Competent Authority.

    Educational qualification: The candidate must have a regular degree in ME or M.Tech. with 60% marks or PhD degree in Polymer Engineering or Science or Technology.

    Experience: The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in the relevant field of Polymers/ Plastics in pay matrix level-9 or a total 13 years of experience in pay matrix levels from 9 to 7 together under the Central Govt. or State Govt. or equivalent scale in Private Organization.

Group-B

  1. Post name:Assistant Officer (Personnel & Administration)/ Assistant Officer (Finance & Accounts)
    No. Of Vacancies: 06 i.e. 01 for UR, 02 for OBC, 01 for EWS and 02 posts reserved for SC-02.
  2. Post name:Assistant Technical Officer (Processing / Testing / Tool Room)
    No. Of Vacancies: 10 vacancies. 03-UR, 03-OBC, 01-EWS, 02-SC and 01-ST.

    Salary and Allowances for Assistant Officer/Assistant Technical officer: VII CPC Pay Matrix Level: 7 Basic Pay Rs. 44,900/- plus allowances as per CIPET Rules and Regulations.

    Age limit for Assistant Officer/Assistant Technical Officer: Maximum age limit for the post of Technical Assistant is 32 years. However, there will be given relaxation up to a maximum of 05 years in the case of SC/ST/OBC etc. as per the Central Government guidelines. Apart from this, the candidates with an outstanding track record will also be given an age relaxation of up to 3 years subject to such recommendation from the Screening Committee/Selection Committee and approval of the Competent Authority.

    Educational qualification: For the post of Assistant Officer (Personnel & Administration), the candidate must have a graduate degree and MBA / Post Graduation in Public Administration with 55% marks.
    In the case of Assistant Officer (Finance & Accounts), the candidate must have B.Com degree and full-time MBA (Finance) or M.Com from a recognized University with 60% marks in each class.
    For the post of Assistant Technical Officer, the candidate must have B.E. or B.Tech in Mech/Chem/Polymer Technology or M.Sc. degree with a specialization in Polymer Science with 60% marks in each class.

    Experience: For the post of Assistant Officer 03 years relevant post-qualification experience and for the Assistant Technical Officer post, the candidate must have 2-years relevant post qualification experience after B. Tech. Or 3-years Post Qualification experience after M.Sc. in pay matrix level-06 under the Central Government or State Governments or private organisation in equivalent scale.

  1. Post name:Administrative Assistant Gr.III
    No. Of Vacancies: 06 (02 -UR, 02-OBC, 01-EWS and 01-SC.
  2. Post Name: Technical Assistant Gr. III (Processing / Testing / Tool Room)
    No. Of Vacancies: 15 i.e. 05-UR, 05-OBC, 02-EWS and 03-SC.
    Salary and allowances for Administrative/Technical Assistant Gr.III: VII CPC Pay Matrix Level: 3 Basic Pay Rs.21,700/- plus allowances as applicable.

    Age limit: For both the posts, the maximum age limit for the post is 32 years. However, it is relaxable up to a maximum of 05 years in the case of SC/ST/OBC etc. as per the Central Government Guidelines.

    Educational qualification: For the post of Administrative Assistant Gr.III, the candidate must hold a graduate degree in any discipline with at least 52% marks. He must have English typing speed @35 wpm or Hindi Typing Speed @ 30 wpm. He must be proficient in Computer operations including knowledge of MS Office, noting and drafting.
    For the Technical Assistant Gr. III post, the candidate must possess Diploma in Mechanical Technology or Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology (DPMT) or Diploma in Plastic Technology (DPT) or Post Graduate Diploma in Plastics Testing & Quality Control (PGD-PTQC) or Post Graduate Diploma in Plastics Processing & Testing (PGDPPT) or Post Diploma in Plastic Mould Design (PDPMD) with CAD/CAM with 1-year relevant post-qualification experience or ITI with 2-years relevant post-qualification experience.

    Desirable qualification: For the post of Administrative Assistant Gr.III, he must have strong oral & written communication skills.

    Experience: The candidate must have a minimum of 2-years post qualification experience handling office communications like administration, establishment, personnel, and placement matters.
