e-Pathshala: An initiative of Government of India for Online Learning

About e-Pathshala
Use of Information and Communication Technology has been increasing everywhere and so in the teaching-learning process. e-Pathshala platform was also developed by using ICTs under the Digital India Campaign to spread the information and educational resources. e-Pathshala portal facilitate dissemination of information and educational resources among students, teachers and others. It was launched in 2015. The main objective of this initiative is "learning on the go". The portal was started by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in collaboration with the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). 
Features of e-Pathshala Portal
The portal provides valuable educational resources, including textbooks, audio-visual resources, periodicals, supplements, teacher training modules and other materials. These materials can be used anytime, downloaded and printed for further use. Books are available in flipbook formats for a user-friendly experience. All the books have chapter wise content which can be downloaded in pdf format and can be saved and read anytime and from anywhere. There is no limit of downloading of content. It saves money which will be spent on buying these books and user require only the internet cost.Features of e-Pathshala App
The best part is that its mobile-based app is also available which can be downloaded from the Google Play app store and can be used for learning on the go, the purpose for which it was created. The content of the app is available in English, Hindi and Urdu. e-Pathshala mobile app is based on Android, iOS and Windows operating system and available for different mobile app interface on Android app, iOS app and windows app platforms for vast access. In the app, all the resources are available in an e-pub format which gives the user a true feeling and make it more attractive. Benefits of e-Pathshala Portal/App
The portal provides easy access to the all available e-books and can be accessed on multiple platforms. Any user student, researcher, teacher, and parents can access eBooks on desktops or laptops and also on the go either on the mobile phone or tablets. By using this app you can store many books in your device according to storage capacity. These e-books are in e-pub formats. A user can pinch, select, zoom in, zoom out, day mode, bookmark, highlight, navigate, search, share and make notes digitally from e-books. Appearance, size of text, colour and wallpapers, screen orientation, page-turning, dictionary and translator and image display option can also be adjusted. e-Pathshala makes certain that education must reach children, teachers and parents, hence, now it is also available at UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app., where user can download any Class 1-12 textbook, audio or video and other educational resources easily.
A very good step has been taken by the government. From the last year, the central and state governments have given special emphasis on developing the means of e-learning and its proper implementation. In this effort, possible efforts have been seen to organize online classes for the children of government schools across the country. No fee will be charged for downloading NCERT books in the e-Pathshala app.
