C.V. Raman Global University admissions 2020

Established in 1997, CGU Odisha was originally named as C.V. Raman College of Engineering. Over the years the college expanded itself and has now grown up into a full-fledged university offering course on a number of disciplines. Currently, the university is offering a number of B.Tech, BBA, MBA, M.Sc, M.Tech, PG Diploma and PhD programs. The last date for applying for admission for the session 2020-21 is 30 June 2020. The registration for the courses is to be done online.

Programs on offer

The following programs are on offer at CV Raman Global University.
  1. B.Tech – 4 years
  2. B.Tech (Lateral entry) – 3 years
  3. BBA – 3 years
  4. MBA – 2 years
  5. M.Sc – 2 years
  6. M.Tech – 2 years
  7. PG Diploma – 1 year
  8. PhD – 3 to 5 years

The disciplines on offer are - Civil, Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Communication, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Thermal and Production engineering. There are also programs on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English literature. The admission to the different programs will be through an online test, CGET – 2020. Based on the rankings obtained by the students in the test, the candidates will be offered the disciplines. A candidate can apply for only one program and only one application form to be filled. There are no application/examination fees to be paid while applying or appearing for the entrance test.

  • Downloading of admit card starts on – 10 July 2020
  • Tentative dates for the online exam – 20 to 30 July 2020
  • Result declaration (probable dates) – 10 August 2020

Eligibility criteria

Any resident or non-resident Indian national can apply for the programs. Persons of Indian Origins (PIO) too may apply for any of the courses. The course-wise eligibility criteria is given as under.
  • B.Tech (4 years) - Pass in 10+2 with at least 60% marks in aggregate with physics and maths as a compulsory subject. For marine engineering, an additional requirement of a minimum 50% marks in English in class 10th/12th.
  • B.Tech (Lateral Entry) - Diploma in any branch of engineering with at least 45% marks. B.Sc holders with 45% marks and math as a compulsory subject too may apply. For marine engineering, minimum 60% marks in aggregate in Marine, Electrical, Mechanical or EEE and 50% in English.
  • MBA - A bachelor degree with at least 60% marks. 45% for the reserved category candidates.
  • MSc - At least 60% marks in BSc
  • M.Tech - Bachelor degree with 60% marks in aggregate. GATE qualified candidates can apply directly for the counselling session.
  • PhD - Postgraduate degree in the relevant field with at least 60% marks.

Age limit

For the four-year B.Tech programs the age of the candidate should not be less than 16 years as on 31 July 2020 and not more than 21 years. For the lateral programs in B.Tech, the candidate's age should not be more than 25 years.

How to apply

For applying for one of the courses, the candidates need to visit the official website of CV Raman Global University and apply online. Candidates can download the information brochure, before applying. Read the same and follow the necessary guidelines. While filling up the form, the candidate has to give the correct and complete details. On submission, an application number will be generated that can be used by the candidate for future correspondence. A confirmation will also be sent through SMS or email. As such, it is essential that the candidates give their latest mobile number and e-mail address during registration. The e-admit card will be available from 10 July 2020 onward. Candidates will have to download the same and take a printout on an A4 size paper. Candidates to ensure that all the details mentioned in the e-admit card are correct. The test centre, date and time will be mentioned in it. It is essential to carry the e-admit card to the test centre, without which, the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the test.

Seat reservations, if any

CGU Odisha allows for reservation to candidates based on their categories. Following is the reservation of seats in terms of percentage allowed for the different categories.
  • SC – 8%
  • ST – 12%
  • Green card (GC) – 5%
  • Physically challenged/disabled – 5%
  • Ex-Servicemen – 3%

Test centres

The CGET - 2020 online entrance will be held at different test centres in the country. The list of the test centes with their codes can be confirmed from the college website or the information brochure.

About the test – CGET 2020

The test will be an online computer-based test. The test will be multiple choice type, with four options for each question, including the correct one. The test will be of 3 hours with 180 questions. Every correct answer will fetch you four marks, whereas a wrong answer will result in a deduction of one mark. Not answering the question will fetch zero marks. The options can be changed if the candidate so desires, but has to be done before final submission.


The results will be declared based on the ranking of the students in the test. The results will be intimated to the candidate through SMS, as well as it will be available on the website on the given date.

Counselling cum admission

Based on the ranking obtained in CGET - 2020, the candidates will be called for counselling and offered admission. The candidates will have to come along with the relevant documents for verification purpose.

  3. Class 12 mark sheet
  4. Category certificate (for SC and STs only).
