Government Craft Instructor Training courses 2020 NIMI-AICET online admissions


Are you looking for Government-recognized trade training certificate courses in India? Admission to these courses will be done through the All India Common Entrance Test (AICET) organized by National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI), Chennai.

Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Govt. of India has announced the schedule for the All India Common Entrance Test (AICET) for admission to training courses that are offered under the Craft Instructor Training Scheme (CITS). The courses are offered under the aegis of National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) at 28 National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI), six State Government Institute of Training of Trainers (IToT) and 12 Private Institutes of Training of Trainers. The seats are allotted based on merit as per the AICET scores and no direct admission is given at any of the institutes, with the Central reservation policy followed in the admission process. On successful completion of the course, you are awarded a Govt.-recognized Craft Instructor Training Certificate by NCVT. The online admission process has been streamlined by the National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI), Chennai.

Eligibility requirements

While there is no upper age limit to join CITS, you are required to fulfil the educational qualification criteria. That is, you must have the NCVT certificate in the relevant trade, namely either a National Trade Certificate (NTC) or the National Apprentice Certificate (NAC). Also acceptable is a Degree or Diploma from a recognized Board of Technical Education/University or equivalent. In case you are in training under CTS and will be appearing in the final exam of All India Trade Test (AITT) in the month of July this year, you may appear for AICET but must successfully complete the training for admission to a CITS course. In case you fail in the final exam of CTS, then you will not be permitted to continue the CITS course the fee will not be refunded. Similarly, if you are in the final semester of Degree/ Diploma in July this year, then you can appear for AICET but if you fail in Degree/Diploma final exam, then you cannot continue the CITS course.

Note: State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) candidates and candidates of Centre of Excellence (COE) are not eligible to appear for AICET.

CITS training course fees

To know the fee structure at State Government and Private IToTs check out the list of the institutes in the prospectus, where their contact details are given and contact the nodal officer for the information. Also, you can check the prospectus to know the institutes and facilities at each, including hostel accommodation.

How to apply

Applications should be made online only at the NIMI online admissions website or http://dget.gov.in. Select the Trade of study and up to five institutes, as well as the exam centre. You can select any entrance exam centre up to four choices, but note that the exam centres might change based on the number of candidates who have applied for the particular centre. Upload all the required documents, such as certificates, mark sheets, photo, scanned signature, etc. Once you have filled up all the details, pay the application fee, which is Rs. 500/- for General category and other candidates and Rs. 300/- for SC, ST, PH, EWS, and women candidates. The application fee has to be paid online using Net Banking or a credit card or a debit card.

Note that when you go to the allotted institution to complete the admission process, for verification purposes you will be required to produce the originals of the certificates and other documents that you uploaded during the registration process.

AICET Exam Pattern

The entrance exam for admission to the CITS courses is an online one of two hours' duration. The questions are 75% objective type ones, that is, multiple-choice questions, of ITI level related to the trade, applied for. The other 25% is also objective type, these pertaining to Aptitude, namely, logical, numeric and reasoning.

Online application: 15th June to 27th June 2020, up to 5 p.m.
Mock Examination: 13th July to 18th July 2020.

Computer-based exams/online at the exam centres: 19th and 20th July 2020.
Result to be published on the official website: 1st August 2020.
The first phase of online counselling: 5th August to 10th August 2020.
Second phase of online counselling: 12th August to 17th August 2020.
Third phase of online counselling: 19th August to 24th August 2020.
