About St. Francis College

St. Francis College for Women was established by the Sisters of Charity, a missionary congregation from Italy in 1959. Located at Begumpet, Hyderabad, the college was a godsend opportunity for women seeking higher education. The college was recognised by the University Grants Commission in 1964 and in 1988 it was granted full autonomous status. As of today, the college is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad. The standard of education in the college is such that in 2004 it was declared as a College with Potential for Excellence. In 2019, the college was ranked among the top 100 colleges in the country by NIRF, Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India. As on today, the college offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the science, arts and commerce disciplines. A few skill-based certificate and diploma programs are also offered at this college.



UG admissions 2020

Notwithstanding the shutdown of the colleges due to COVID 19, St. Francis College is accepting applications from students for admission to its undergraduate programs. As for its postgraduate programs, the issue of the application form and admission dates will be notified later. The present admission notification is for the UG programs only. The applications are to be submitted online by visiting the official website of the college. Apart from the undergraduate programs, a couple of diploma programs on Human Resource Management and Psychological Counselling Skills can also be applied. How to apply

For applying, the candidates need to fill an online application form by visiting the official website of the college. While applying, a few things are to be kept in mind. A valid e-mail ID and mobile number are to be given during registration. All communications by the college will be through e-mails or SMS. Those candidates who have 7 years of schooling in Telangana are to select resident status as Telangana. Students can at the most apply for 4 programs in the order of their preferences.

Selection criteria

Selection to the programs is on the basis of marks obtained by the students in their 10th and 12th exam. The merit list will be displayed on the college website. Selected candidates will also be informed through SMS or e-mail. On selection, the candidates to visit the college on the given date, along with original documents for verification.

Application fees

A fee of Rs 500 is to be paid online for applying for the programs. The fees can be paid using net banking or through credit and debit cards. A student can at the most apply for 4 courses. Rs 200 per course is to be paid additionally in such circumstances.

Documents to be submitted

Scanned copies of the following documents are to be uploaded while applying.
  1. Mark sheets and pass certificates of class 10 and 12 exams. Considering that results might not have been declared by many of the school boards, for the time being, the candidates can submit their class 11 marks. Class 12 marks are to be updated as soon as the results are declared, failing which the applications will be rejected.
  2. Birth certificate
  3. Aadhaar
  4. Passport size photos
  5. Caste certificate, if applicable
  6. Sports/Co-curricular/NCC certificates, if any
  7. Passport details for citizens of foreign countries, Indian citizens staying overseas and persons of Indian origin

At the time of admission, a few other documents may be required like income certificate of parents, transfer certificate, migration certificate, physically handicapped certificate, etc.



Scholarships, if any

St. Francis College provides scholarship to the needy students. Known as the LUCINI scholarships, there is also a provision to contribute to the fund any time other than during the admissions.

Rules to be strictly adhered by the students

Students are to abide by the following rules.
  • When in college, every student to carry their college ID card at all times.
  • The college dress code is to be strictly followed. Students are allowed to wear salwar kameez or pants with knee-length tops only.
  • Sleeveless dresses, T-shirts and tuck-ins are not permitted.
  • Students are not to post any unpleasant or damaging views about the college in social media.
  • Students are not allowed to bring four-wheelers inside the campus.
  • Without prior permission of the principal, organizing students for any event inside or outside the campus is strictly forbidden.
  • At least 80% attendance is to be maintained in each subject.
