About Shiv Nadar University
Shiv Nadar University is a private university located at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh. It falls within the National Capital Region. The university was founded in 2011 by Shiv Nadar, who also happens to be the founder chairman of HCL Technologies Limited, the renowned Indian multinational company in the field of IT. The university has a sprawling campus of over 286 acres with numerous infrastructural facilities. It offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, natural sciences, social sciences and management studies. The university has been recognized by UGC as an 'Institute of Eminence'. It is also registered as a research institution with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India.

The courses are all of 4 years in duration. The medium of instruction for every course is English.Eligibility criteria
For selection, the minimum criteria is the class 12 result of the candidate. They should have compulsorily studied English in class 12. For the engineering streams, physics, chemistry and math are the compulsory subjects. For the other streams, the candidate should have studied the concerned subject in class 12. How to apply
To overcome the challenges due to COVID 19, there are currently four routes for the candidates to apply for the different undergraduate courses at Shiv Nadar. They are given below.
Candidates applying for the social sciences and management courses are to apply through the first three routes only. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an interview with the concerned department before the final selection. The interview will be conducted through an online meeting platform.
Candidates applying for the engineering and the science courses can opt for any of the four routes. They do not have to appear for the interview, in case they are applying through JEE Main scores or remotely proctored SNUSAT and APT scores. The remotely proctored test is a social distance-friendly online test that can be taken by the candidate in the safety of their home.
For applying through the JEE Main score, the candidate should have scored above 80 percentile in JEE Main January 2020. Beyond the 80 percentile, individual departments will have their own cut-offs.
For applying, the candidate will have to visit the website of Shiv Nadar University. The entire application process is online. The candidate will have to click on the 'Apply now' button and register by giving his/her name, mobile number and e-mail ID. While filling the application form, among other details, the candidates need to give their class 10 and 11 marks. It will help in shortlisting the candidates. Engineering aspirants to submit their PCM marks and JEE Main marks (if appeared for), whereas for the rest of the disciplines the aggregate marks can be submitted. Class 12 to be submitted as and when these are available. Admissions will be provisional till the class 12 marks are submitted. About SNUSAT and APT
SNUSAT stands for Shiv Nadar University Scholastic Aptitude Test and APT stands for Academic Proficiency Test. Both are remotely proctored online test that can be given by the candidate sitting in the comfort of their home. SNUSAT has four sections – Verbal reasoning, Quantitative ability, Abstract reasoning and Essay writing. The duration of the test is 2 hours and the test is the same for all the disciplines. APT is a subject-specific test. Engineering students will be tested in math and physics. For others as per their discipline. The test is for one hour. Scholarships, if any
Shiv Nadar University provides scholarship and financial aid to the meritorious and needy students. These scholarships cover part or full academic cum living expenses. There are basically two kinds of scholarships – the Gifted Student Scholarship and the Merit cum Means Scholarship.
Gifted Student Scholarship: This scholarship is given to students with outstanding academic results. They could be the top 100 rankers in class 12 in their respective board, whether CBSE, ICSE or state board. They could also be INSPIRE awardees, KVPY fellows, top 500 rankers in JEE Advanced or having IB grade points 42 and above. Such students are offered direct admission to their chosen stream.
Merit cum Means Scholarship: This scholarship is primarily meant for those students who are not financially strong. For availing this scholarship, the performance of the candidate in class 12 is considered. Those who have scored more than 92% of marks in class 12 are only eligible for it. Further, the family income of the candidate should be less than Rs 8 lakh per annum. To show family income, the candidates could submit either the IT returns of the parents for the last 3 years, bank statement for the last 12 months or the BPL card issued (if any) by the government.
There are a couple of other scholarships too. These are the Rural Scholarship and Sports Scholarship.
Rural Scholarship: This scholarship is meant for students from a very poor background, that is those with annual family income less than Rs 3 lakh. The selection process is the same. Candidates from a selected list of 18 schools are only provided with this scholarship. The list of such schools is given on the university website on the page that says 'Apply now'.
Sports Scholarship: This is meant for students with exceptional talent in sports. Those having a top 100 ranking in their discipline and have participated or won in the state, national and international level sports meet can apply for this scholarship. The candidates will have to clear a physical fitness test and a sports specific test. The sports that are considered under this scholarship are – Chess, Tennis, Squash, Badminton and Table Tennis.
For candidates who get Rural and Gifted Students Scholarship, the entire academic expenses are borne by the university. For the rest two categories, the expenses are partially borne by the students, as determined by the scholarship committee.Academic and living expenses
