Even today Hyderabad is considered a college hub with more than 100 engineering colleges in and around Hyderabad.

* Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) and KL University offer specialized courses.
* Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology is another college affiliated with Osmania University, which maintains excellent standards and placements are excellent for the students coming out of this college.
* JNTU Hyderabad, IIT, IIIT and Osmania University are offering quality education to students in various branches of Engineering. IIT, Hyderabad is a new generation IIT but attained the number 2 position in CSE after IIT Guwahati, I understand.
* Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani has a campus in Hyderabad and it competes with many other famous colleges like IIITs in Hyderabad. The campus of this institute is very well planned and the laboratories and workshops are equipped with all essential instruments.
* Vasavi College of Engineering is another institute offering excellent education.

In addition to the above-mentioned famous institutes, there are very good engineering colleges in the private sector. Some colleges which do not have proper facilities were closed down due to shortage of students. Many students from other states are coming here for their education. As such Hyderabad is the best place for doing Engineering degree.
