Delhi Technological University (DTU) invites applications from Graduates who wish to pursue a postgraduate M.Tech. course for the academic session 2020-2022. A candidate can apply for admission to more than one course, but in such a case the online registration and application for each should be done separately and the online fee needs to be paid for each one.

DTU M.Tech. programs and Eligibility criteria

As a full-time candidate, you can get admission to one of the DTU M.Tech. programs on the basis of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score and marks scored in the entrance test. Five seats (supernumerary) are available in all the M.Tech. programs for full-time sponsored candidates on merit basis, provided they are employees of PSUs or Govt. Depts. or Educational & Research institutes with at least one year's experience as on 31st July 2020. They will be required to take leave for a minimum period of two years. The eligibility criteria are the same as for the full-time candidates, but the criteria of GATE scores has been waived off. Sponsored candidates seeking admission through any Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) scheme should contact the DRDO organization for sponsorship. In case you wish to take up any of the M.Tech. programs on a part-time basis, you are required to submit a 'No Objection Certificate' in the prescribed format from the appropriate person in your organization (refer for instructions to the official brochure).

Polymer Technology (PTE): B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. in Biochemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, etc. (refer to the official brochure for the full list of acceptable disciplines).

Applied Physics programs

Nano Science and Technology (NST): M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. in Physics, Applied Physics, Nuclear Physics, Engineering Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, etc. (refer to the official brochure for the full list of acceptable disciplines).

Biotechnology programs

Bioinformatics (BIO): B.Tech./M.Sc. Degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, etc. (refer to the official brochure for the full list of acceptable disciplines).

Industrial Biotechnology (IBT): B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc. Degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Life Sciences, Zoology, Botany, etc. (refer to the official brochure for the full list of acceptable disciplines).

Geotechnical Engineering (GTE): B.Tech./B.E. Degree in Civil Engineering.

Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering (HRE): B.Tech./B.E. Degree in Civil Engineering

Structural Engineering (STE): B.Tech./B.E. Degree in Civil Engineering

Geoinformatics: (GINF): B.E./B.Tech./MCA/M.Sc. in Civil, Architecture, Agriculture, Geomatics, Mathematics, etc (refer to the official brochure for the full list of acceptable disciplines).

Computer Science and Engineering programs

Computer Science & Engineering (CSE): B.Tech./B.E. Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology/Mathematics and Computing/Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering/Electrical and Electronics Engineering; or M.C.A./M.Sc. (Computer Science/IT), with Mathematics as a subject at the B.Sc./B.C.A. level.

Software Engineering (SWE): same as above.

Information System (ISY): B.Tech./B.E. Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology/Mathematics and Computing/Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering/Electrical and Electronics Engineering; or M.C.A./M.Sc. (Computer Science/IT), with Mathematics as a subject at the B.Sc./B.C.A. level.

Electronics and Communications Engineering programs

Microwave and Optical Communication (MOC): B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering/Engineering Physics/M.Sc. Electronics/M.Sc. in Physics with Electronics/Radio Physics/Solid State Physics.

Signal Processing & Digital Design (SPD): B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering.

VLSI Design and Embedded System (VLS): B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering.

Electrical Engineering programs

Control & Instrumentation (C&I): B.Tech./B.E. in Electrical Engineering/Electrical and Electronics Engineering/Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering/Control & Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control Engineering.

Power System (PSY): B.Tech./B.E. in Electrical Engineering/Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Power Electronics and Systems (PES): B.Tech./B.E. in Electrical Engineering/Electrical and Electronics Engineering/Control & Instrumentation, Instrumentation & Control Engineering. Note that this is a new course introduced by DTU, for which admission is strictly on the basis of GATE scores. GATE Fellowships will be available for scholars subject to AICTE approval.

Environment Engineering programs

Environmental Engineering (ENE): B.Tech./B.E. in Environmental Engineering/Civil Engineering/Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Bioinformatics/Chemical Engineering/Polymer Technology.

Mechanical Engineering programs

Production Engineering (PRD): B.Tech./B.E. in Mechanical Engineering/Production, Production & Industrial, Industrial Engineering/Industria/Manufacturing Science/Welding Technology/Automation Engineering.

Thermal Engineering (THE): B.Tech./B.E. in Mechanical Engineering/Production, Production & Industrial, Industrial Engineering/Automobile Engineering, Automotive Engineering/Manufacturing Science/Automation Engineering.

DTU M.Tech. admissions application procedure

You must register and submit your application to the M.Tech. course through the online process only at the DTU official website. Pay the online fee and take a printout of the submitted online application form. Sign this form and take it with two photos on the day of counseling. Ensure that the photos are the same as that which was uploaded for the online application. Those who are awaiting their final year qualifying exam marks can also fill in the online application for admission but are required to upload the graduation marks latest by 30th August 2020 for which a separate link will be provided.

The application fee is Rs.1000/- for General, OBC, and EWS candidates and Rs.500/- for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. This fee can be paid with a debit or credit card or via Net Banking.

After admission approval

The selected candidates for each round of admission will be displayed on the official DTU website. These candidates are then required to pay the course fees online and submit the fee receipt to the Department.

The documents that are required when reporting to the Department to accept the offer of admission are:
  1. Proof of date of birth/Class 10 certificate

  2. All mark sheets and certificate of qualifying exam (Graduation).

  3. Certificate supporting reserved category, as applicable.

  4. Income and Asset Certificate for students applying under EWS category.

  5. Valid GATE Score Card in original for full-time candidates.

  6. Experience certificate in original for part-time candidates and for sponsored candidates.

  7. A No-objection certificate for part-time candidates.




Important dates

The last date to submit online registration is 20th July 2020, 12 midnight.
The list of shortlisted candidates for the first round of admission will be displayed on 3rd August 2020, at 5p.m.
Students shortlisted for the first round of admissions have to report on 6th August 2020 at 10 a.m.
Submission of freezing of forms can be done on 10th August 2020 by 5p.m.
The list of vacant seats for the second round of admissions will be displayed on 13th August 2020, 8 p.m.
Students shortlisted for the second round of admissions have to report on 17th August 2020, at 10 a.m.
Spot round of admissions: The list of vacant seats for the spot round will be displayed on 24th August 2020, 6 p.m.

Dates of admission schedule based on the written test-
The list of candidates eligible to appear for the written test will be displayed on 3rd August 2020, 5 p.m.
The online issuance of the Admit Card will be on 7th August 2020.
Date of written test: 11th August 2020.
The list of shortlisted candidates for the first round of admission will be displayed on 12th August 2020, at 5p.m.
Students shortlisted for the first round of admissions have to report on 14th August 2020 at 10 a.m.
