Short-term Fellowship Schemes open at National Institute of Plant Genome Research

About NIPGR

The National Institute of Plant Genome Research, earlier known as the National Centre for Plant Genome Research, was established in 1998. The institute is an autonomous institution and aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. NIPGR focuses on mainly research work in plant genomics and continuously doing efforts to make itself as an important resource institute at the global level in different aspects of plant genomics. Main focus areas of research in plant biology include molecular mapping, genome analysis, plant immunity, plant development and architecture, transgenic for crop improvement etc.

About the fellowship scheme

Applications are accepted for a short-term fellowship scheme which will be sponsored by NIPGR. Details of the fellowship scheme are as given below:

Name of the scheme: NIPGR Short Term Research Fellowship Scheme

Designation of Fellow: Project Associate-I

No. Of Positions: Two posts Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms.

Emoluments: The fellowship amount will be provided as sanctioned in the project and as per DST/DBT norms.

Age Limit: Maximum age limit for the fellow is 35 years.

Duration of fellowship: The initial fellowship duration will be one year which may be extendable till the tenability of the project. Extension for next year will be given based on the assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. However, the appointment termination may be done any time by giving one month notice by either side. It is also noted that the candidate will not claim for any regular position of NIPGR.

Qualification and Experience:Candidates must possess an M.Sc or M.Tech degree or equivalent in Bioinformatics/Biotechnology/Life Sciences or any other field with at least 60% marks. Any other subject mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated August 21, 2019 will also be considered.
Preference will be given to the candidates who have prior experience in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis, database and web-servers, Machine learning and big data analysis.

Note: The candidates must ensure their eligibility before submitting the application. Ineligible candidates will not be interviewed and NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate for the fellowship based on the qualification and experience of the candidate.

How to apply

The candidate must read all the instructions before filling and applying to NIPGR. Details of the official notification can be seen on the on the website of NIPGR. The candidates must apply in the prescribed application format, which must be downloaded from the official website of NIPGR. After downloading the application form from the website of NIPGR, the candidate must fill it carefully. Upon filling the complete application form, the soft copy of the application form along with a cover letter showing interest and the soft copy of self-attested documents including mark-sheets from Class X onwards, certificates, proof or research like research experience and publications should be e-mailed to Scientist In-charge on e-mail: shaileshgenome@gmail.com.

Note: All the documents must be attached in a single pdf file including cover letter, filled application form and all self-attested documents.

Selection procedure

First, the candidates will be shortlisted based on the screening of their application and will be called for an online interview. After short-listing of candidates, a list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on NIPGR website. All the short-listed candidates will be informed about the date and time of interview through e-mail provided in the application form. A web-link with date and time of online interview will also be sent to the candidates.
