Applications open for CDFD Research Scholars Program-I 2020

Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad has announced the Research Scholars Program and is inviting online application. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for this program. Read this article to check all the details on the same.

About CDFD

The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), Hyderabad, is a nation's leading institute. The autonomous institute is aided by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and other agencies. The Centre works in DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics and other areas of modern biology. CDFD also recognised for PhD programmes in Life Sciences by the University of Hyderabad.

About the Research Program

CDFD is offering opportunities to talents students for its Research Scholar Program. The program will start tentatively in September/October 2020. Candidates from the diverse field are encouraged to apply for the program and also get an opportunity to enrol in the PhD program of Manipal Academy of Higher Education or Regional Centre for Biotechnology.

Themes of the Research Program

The current research themes are:

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the research program the candidates must fulfil the following criteria:
  1. The candidate must have M.Sc or M.Tech in any branch of Science, Technology, or Agriculture in a recognized University/ Institute or MBBS. Candidates appeared in their final year or semester exams and whose results are awaited, are also eligible to apply.
  2. The candidate must have qualified for a Junior Research Fellowship from CSIR or University Grants Commission(UGC) or Department of Biotechnology(DBT) or Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) or Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC) or Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) or UGC—The Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) or any other similar examination with fellowship.
  3. The candidates having the following qualification are not eligible to apply for this research program:
    • ICMR - JRF fellowship (ICMR funded project Scheme, is only for two years)
    • DBT JRF NET with a BTech in Biotechnology degree
    • DBT JRF NET under DBT – B category list
    • CSIR-UGC (NET) only LS-NET exam qualification

Application Procedure

The applicants satisfying the eligibility requirements may register themselves for the CDFD Research Scholar Program 2020. The application must be submitted through online mode. To fill the online application form candidates must visit the official website of CDFD.

Scanned copy of documents required to be uploaded on the portal along with the application form includes:
  1. All educational qualification certificates
  2. Date of birth certificate
  3. Reservation category certificates (if applicable)
  4. Certificate of qualified fellowship examination
Note: Director CDFD reserves the right to accept/ reject any or all applications assigning no reasons.

Selection procedure

Selection of candidates for the CDFD-Research Scholars Program will be based on an interview. The interview will be conducted in September 2020 through Video Conferencing. Dates will be declared later. The applicants need to be available for more than one round of interviews, spread over 3 days if needed. After the interviews, candidates are advised to be in touch with CDFD faculty through e-mail or phone to familiarize themselves with their research interests.

Important instructions

  • CDFD Research Scholars Program is a fully residential program. The candidates selected under this research scholar program will have to stay on the campus.
  • In the selection process, the decision of CDFD shall be final. Mere fulfilment of the minimum qualification would not automatically entitle a person for selection.

Display of short-listing for an interview: 20.08.2020
