About BRAOU

Dr BR Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) Hyderabad is a popular destination for students without a formal education. It offers opportunities for higher education to those who have not been able to continue their studies at schools, due to various reasons. For this, the students have to undergo an eligibility test, which finds out the suitability of the candidate for the concerned courses. The eligibility test is not an entrance test, but simply judges the ability of the student to continue with the entire program. It checks the students for basic skills in reading, writing and mathematical abilities. Students who have passed their intermediate or equivalent exams are, however, admitted directly without any test. The undergraduate programs that are on offer by the university are BA, BSc and BCom. They all are of 3 years duration. The programs are recognized by UGC.

Revised notice for admission

In a recent update, the university has revised the last date for registering for the eligibility test. This had to be done, as the university was unable to conduct the test in the earlier given time frame due to the spread of the coronavirus. Now the last date for registration has been extended to 31 July 2020. The dates for the eligibility test have not been declared yet. That will be announced in due course of time as and when the situation permits. Candidates are thus advised to keep a regular watch on the updates posted by the university at its website, from time to time.
