The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India invites applications from Indian nationals for the INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Scheme. This scheme is a component of Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE), the program that is managed by DST to get young people involved in the study of science so that later there will be a group of professionals working in the fields of science and technology, especially the research and development aspects. The INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Scheme is a post-doctoral fellowship for young achievers for independent research.

The Fellowship is offered for a maximum period of five years and you cannot avail of two Fellowships concurrently during the tenure of this Fellowship period.
Fellowship Amount: Rs.1,25,000/-p.m. is the consolidated amount and this is taxable. There is an additional Research Grant of Rs.7 lakh every year for five years to every successful candidate, including the carry-forward amount, if any, from the previous year.
Eligibility requirements
Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen or a Person of Indian origin with PIO status.
Age criteria: You should be in the age group of 27 to 32 years of age, that is, born on or after 1st January 1988. This maximum age limit is for candidates applying for the Fellowship in the General Category. The maximum age limit for SC and ST candidates is 35 years (born on or after 1st January 1985) and for persons with benchmark disabilities (Divyangjan with not less than 40% of a specified disability) it is 42 years. The age criteria is applicable as on 1st Jan 2020.
Academic Qualification: You should have a PhD Degree in the fields of science or mathematics or engineering or pharmacy or medicine or any agriculture-related subject from any recognized university in India or abroad. All academic qualifications should have a minimum of 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA), beginning with the H.S.C. exam (that is, Class 12 onwards). It will be advantageous to be a top-ranked candidate in the top 1% in the Class 12 exam or have a rank in IIT-JEE rank holders' list or hold the first rank in the graduate or postgraduate university exam.
Note: In case you are awaiting the award of the PhD degree, you can apply on a provisional basis, with the selection to be confirmed only after confirmation of the award of the PhD degree. In such a case, you will get an intimation for submission of the PhD degree certificate within three months so that you do not forfeit the Fellowship opportunity.
Publications: You should have published work in highly reputed journals, as an indicator of excellent research potential.
Current Employment: In case you are currently working (on a contract basis or otherwise), then you will be required to resign from the job before starting the Fellowship. You will not be allowed to take up the fellowship on a deputation basis or any other basis or take leave for it.How to apply

An application can be submitted either directly or through a nomination, but for both the applications must be submitted through the online mode only at the INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Scheme portal.
Nominations can come from reputed academic institutions in India or abroad or reputed R&D centres through the Heads of the institutions/organizations, such as Vice-Chancellors, Directors, etc. Eminent scientists also can submit nominations for the Fellowship. The nominations should be sent to the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi only.
The last date to submit the online application for both direct applications and through nominations is 10th September 2020.
After selection: You must avail the INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship within three months of the final selection.Contact information
