The School of Planning and Architecture (SPAB), Bhopal has issued the notification for the schedule of the PG entrance test 2020 for the postgraduate programs in Planning and Architecture for the academic session 2020-21. When submitting the online application, a student can apply for a maximum of two programs, with the order of preference, through one single online application form. They will appear for one common test and a maximum of two tests of the selected programs.

About SPAB Master's Programs

All the postgraduate programs of M.Plan. and M.Arch. are full-time courses of two years' duration with three specializations of each. The specializations and eligibility requirements for each are mentioned below.



M.Arch. programs

Master of Arch. (Urban Design): You should have a Graduate degree in B.Arch or B. Plan from a recognized institute with minimum 60% marks (or 6.5 CGPA) if applying in the categories of General/OBC/EWS. For SC, ST and PwD candidates, 55% (6.0 CGPA) is the acceptable minimum in the degree qualifying exam.

Master of Arch. (Landscape): You should have a Graduate degree in B.Arch./B.Plan/B.E./ B.Tech.(Civil Engineering); or B.Sc. + M.Sc. in one of these streams - Horticulture/Agriculture/Forestry/Ecology/Botany,Zoology/Geology/Geomorphology. The minimum marks in the qualifying exam should be the same as for the M.Arch. course mentioned above.

Master of Arch. (Conservation): You should have a Graduate degree in B.Arch./B. Plan/B.E./B.Tech. (Civil Engineering). Also acceptable is a postgraduate Arts degree in History/Cultural studies/Heritage studies/ Anthropology or any equivalent; or a postgraduate Arts or Science degree recognized by UGC (M.A. or M.Sc.) in Museology/Archeology or equivalent. Candidates with a two-year PG Diploma in Archeology/PG Diploma in Museology /PG Diploma in Conservation or equivalent, from any recognized national institute or university are also eligible for this course. The minimum marks in the qualifying exam is the same as for the other M.Arch. courses.



M.Plan. programs

Master of Planning (Urban and Regional Planning): You should have a Graduate degree in B. Arch./B.Plan/B.E. or B. Tech. (Civil). Other acceptable qualifications include an M.A./ M.Sc. in Geography/Economics and an M.A. in Sociology. The minimum acceptable marks in the qualifying exam is 60% marks (or 6.5 CGPA) for General /OBC/EWS category candidates and 55% (6.0 CGPA) for SC, ST and PwD category candidates.

Master of Planning (Environmental Planning): You should have a graduate degree in B. Arch/B. Plan/B.E. or B. Tech (Civil). Other acceptable qualifications: (a) M.A./M.Sc. in Geography/Economics/Sociology; or (b) M.Sc. Environmental Science; or (c) B.E/B.Tech. Environmental Engineering ; or (d) A five-year integrated Degree in Law with specialization in Environmental Law; or (d) A five-year integrated Degree in General Law.

Master of Planning (Transport Planning and Logistics Management): You should have a Graduate degree in B. Arch/B. Plan/B.E. or B. Tech (Civil) or a postgraduate M.A./M.Sc. degree in Geography/Economics or a postgraduate M.Sc. degree in Statistics/Operations Research/Econometrics.

Additional Notes: The age criteria for PG admissions is up to maximum 30 years as on 1st August 2020. In the case of sponsored candidates from various Government departments and autonomous Government institutions, the age criteria is maximum 40 years as on 1st August 2020. For all the M.A./M.Sc. degree programs that are mentioned as acceptable eligibility criteria, these must be two-year UGC-recognized ones.

How to apply

Applications should be made online at the official website of School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal. The application fee should also be paid online through the SBI Payment Gateway. The application fee is Rs.2000/- for UR/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates and Rs.1000/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

Scan the documents listed below and send them via email before 31st July 2020:
  1. A passport size photo in jpeg format up to maximum 200 kb in size.

  2. The category certificate if applicable, in pdf format up to maximum 500 kb in size, for OBC & EWS latest one issued within past 6 months.

  3. The PwD certificate if applicable, in pdf format less than 500 kb.

  4. The consolidated mark sheet of the Qualifying Degree in pdf format less than 500 kb. [Note - The scanned & self-attested mark sheet of results till of pre-final year/semester needs to be submitted through email (this email ID will be there in the application form) latest by 14th August 2020, 5 p.m.]

  5. Class 10+2 mark sheet in pdf format less than 500 kb and certificate.

  6. Class 10 certificate as supporting document of proof of age.

  7. Professional work experience certificate, if any.

  8. Certificates of extracurricular and co-curricular activities, if any.

  9. GATE/JRF score card (if any) in pdf format.

Note: In case candidates cannot obtain the OBC-NCL or EWS certificate due to COVID-19, they can upload an affidavit in the prescribed format given on the official website under PG Admission-2020 and accordingly they will have time up to 14th August 2020
to submit the OBC-NCL/EWS certificate.

Last date to submit the online application: 31st July 2020, up to 5.30 p.m.



SPAB PG Entrance test format

The PG entrance test for admission to all the M.Arch. and M.Plan courses will be through an online exam only. There will be no exams at the campus and no interviews will be conducted at the campus.

You have to appear for two online tests. First is the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) test which will have general objective type questions. This MCQ test will be the same for all the programs. The second test will combine objective and subjective type questions that will be based on the M.Arch. or M.Plan. course applied for. It will incorporate descriptive type questions, ones that relate to computations, sketching, etc.
