MES Engineering College is the first self-engineering college which was established in Kerala State and one of the first self-financing colleges under Muslim Minority status. Situated on the banks of Nila and Bharathapuzha, the college was established as minority status in the year 1994 and is affiliated to University of Calicut and recognized by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.. The campus is widely recognized as one of the premier institutions which gives technical education in the state. the college offers admission to all the categories with more focus on educationally backward communities. the nearest airport is Karippur which is 50km away from the college. college got accreditation and awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification for excellence in quality systems. The courses of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering departments have been given NBA accreditation of AICTE.


The AICTE and the council of Architecture have sanctioned B.Tech., B.Arch, M.Tech courses. The college is approved by Government of Kerala and also affiliated by the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The following listed are the B.Tech courses.

B.Tech Programmes

  1. Applied Electronics and Instrumentation: Total number of seats is 30 and the duration is of 4 years.

  3. Computer Science Engineering: The total number of seats is 120 and the duration is of 4 years.

  4. Civil Engineering: The total number of seats is 60 and the duration is of 4 years.

  5. Electronics and Communication Engineering: The total number of seats is 120 and the duration is of 4 years.

  6. Electrical and Electronics Engineering: The total number of seats is 60 and the duration is of 4 years.

  7. Information Technology: The total number of seats is 30 and the duration is of 4 years.

  8. Mechanical Engineering: The total number of seats is 60 and the duration of the course is of 4 years.

M.Tech Courses

  • Computer Science Engineering: The total number of seats is 18 and the duration of the course is of 2 years.

  • Instrumentation and Control Systems: The total number of seats is 18 and the duration is of 2 years.

NRI seats are also available as per the norms of AICTE and government. As the Engineering College is under the Kerala Self Financing Management, the fees are as per the agreement between Association and the Kerala government. The fees once paid will not be refunded under any conditions. Once a student has been admitted under the management quota and if the student leaves the college during the period, then they have to pay all the remaining fees of the course.


The entire engineering college is having a network of 1GBPS. All the work in the institution which includes the academic and non-academic ones, the library, and accounts are automated. The student details can be accessed from any teacher on the campus. The student's performance can be accessed by the parents through the website. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and thus makes it easy for the students and the staff for accessing the internet. A leased line connection which is having 100 Mbps Bandwidth is enabled in the campus. The college is having 1100 configuration computer terminals through the campus. Each section of the department is having its own computer centres with a good number of computers and accessories. The Mechanical Engineering Lab has been set up with the association of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala Startup Mission and MIT centre for Bits and Atoms, USA. The college is also having a modern English language Lab.

The college is having a fully automated library having 69000 volume books. It is having 26000 unique titles which amount to 4.5 crores and has 168 national and international journals in the Engineering and technology field. The college provides a Book Bank facility for economically backward students and provides resource sharing with other neighbouring communities. Each department of the college is equipped with the departmental library. Also, the college is equipped with Solar plant with a capacity of 100KW. In the college campus, a Doctor is available for consultation and for treatment. In addition, the college is having tie-up with the local hospital for outpatient and inpatient treatment. There is a college bus having routes to Kottakal and Kunnamkulam from the college campus. One Air-conditioned coach is also running from Thrissur to the College for the faculty members. Full-fledged Branch of Punjab National Bank is also working inside the campus. A registered co-operative store is there for purchasing books and other stationery items. The store will be open from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM on all the working days. A canteen is also working inside the campus for providing quality catering facilities for staff and students at a reasonable rate.

Admission Qualification

For Engineering Courses

The candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or any other exam which is equivalent and 50 per cent marks for Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Biology or Computer Science and 50 per cent marks separate for Maths put together will be eligible for admission. The students who have got 45 per cent marks separate for Maths and 45 per cent marks for Physics, Chemistry, Maths put together will be eligible for admission under the Management Quota. For SC and ST students a pass in the qualifying exam is needed for admission.

For Architecture Course

Plus two exams passed from a recognized board with Maths as the main subject and must have scored a minimum of 50 per cent marks or Plus two and Diploma from any State or Central governments with 50 per cent marks as Maths as the main subject will be eligible for admission. The candidates who score minimum eligibility marks for National Aptitude Test will be considered for admission to the B.Arch course. There will not be any provision for a lateral entry during the five-year course of Architecture.

Seat Allotments

The college is a Muslim Minority Educational Institution, and the management has the right to fill the seats directly. The agreement between the Kerala government 50 per cent of seats will be through Entrance Exam commissioner and the balance 50 per cent seats will be done through NRI seats which are filled as per the decision of the Management.

Incentives for Merit Students

The college offers a full exemption of tuition fee and special fee up to 10 per cent of management seats in each department branch and it will take from the merit list who are having 85 per cent and above in PCM subjects and the entrance rank must be up to 5000. For each branch 10 per cent of tuition fee will be given to the top students, where 5 per cent for Government quota and other 5 per cent for Muslim students under Management quota and the entrance ranks up to 10000.
