National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), Hyderabad is a distinguished institute in the fields of Biotechnology. The autonomous institute has received financial aid from the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India for innovative research and sustainable development. A lot of research activities are conducted on Transgenic Technology, Animal Genetics and Genomics, Infectious Diseases, Reproductive Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Nutrition Enrichment. "Improve animal health for human welfare" is the motto of the NIAB hence, it is continuously engaged in the improvement of health and productivity of farm animals by developing novel vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics and human-animal interface. The main goal of the NIAB is to develop a competitive livestock industry at international level so that livestock and farm animal-based products, vaccines and pharmaceuticals can be produced and commercialized. The interested candidate who seeks admission to NIAB PhD program must hold an MSc or M.Tech. or B.Tech. degree in any branch of Life Science or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharma or MBBS. He/she should have qualified any national level exam for a 5-year fellowship like CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE NET-JRF/UGC-RGNF etc. Candidates who have qualified GATE, MPAT or other exams without fellowship will not be considered. The candidate will have to follow rules and regulations of NIAB, however; fellowship amount will be given as per awarding agency norms.
How to apply
The candidates must read the instruction n the information brochure available on the official website of NIAB. Candidates who wish to apply for a PhD program at NIAB must satisfy the eligibility criteria. To apply, the candidates will have to fill and submit the online application form in the prescribed format available at NIAB's online portal (www.niab.org.in). After filling the online form, all the following required documents (soft copies) have to be uploaded. Selection criteria
After the screening of applications, only short-listed candidates will be interviewed via video conferencing. Based on their performance in the online interview, candidates will be selected for the admission to the PhD Program. The online interview will be held for two consecutive days wherein the shortlisted students will be interviewed once for primary screening, followed by the second interview of screened candidates on the next day. It is recommended that the candidates must observe the faculty profile, his research interest, and collect the information on the availability of seats in their laboratories. He/she can prepare a list of preference for labs at NIAB and research areas of their interest. After the interview, the candidates may select the labs according to their choices. All the rights to accept or reject any application will be with NIAB only.Important dates
