TNDALU- Law admissions 2020

The Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University is inviting applications from the eligible candidates for 2020 admissions into the Law courses offered in the School of Excellence in Law(SOEL) and government-affiliated law colleges in Tamil Nadu. Mentioned below are the courses offered and the eligibility criteria required to get law admissions in Tamil Nadu.

School of Excellence in Law
The School of Excellence in Law of TNDALU offers the following honorable degree courses in law for the duration of 5 years.
  • B.A.L.L.B(Hons)
  • B.B.A.L.L.B(Hons)
  • B.Com.L.L.B(Hons)
  • B.C.A.L.L.B(Hons)

Government affiliated law colleges
The government law colleges in Tamil Nadu offers the following regular degree programmes in law.
  • B.A.L.L.B ( Duration: 5 years)

Eligibility criteria

Only candidates who satisfy the below mentioned educational qualifications are eligible to apply for the Law courses offered in the SOEL and government-affiliated law colleges in Tamil Nadu.

B.A.L.L.B(Hons)/ B.B.A.L.L.B(Hons)/ B.Com.L.L.B(Hons)/ B.C.A.L.L.B(Hons):
  1. Candidates must have completed higher secondary education(10+2) and should have passed the qualifying examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu state board, CBSE, ISC or any other recognized education boards. Candidates who wish to apply for B.Com.L.L.B(Hons) must have studied Commerce as one of the subjects in +2 and those who wish to apply for B.C.A.L.L.B(Hons) must have studied Computer Science as a subject in higher secondary class.

  2. At the qualifying examination conducted by the recognized board, the students must have scored minimum marks in all subjects to apply for the Law course. The minimum eligible mark is 60% for SC/ST students and 70% for other category students including NRI.

B.A.L.L.B:
  1. To get admission into B.A.L.L.B course offered by the affiliated government law colleges in Tamil Nadu, candidates must have completed their 10+2 education and higher secondary qualifying examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu state board, CBSE or any other recognized education boards

  2. At the qualifying examination conducted by the recognized education board, the students must have scored minimum marks in all subjects to apply for the Law course. The minimum eligible mark is 40% for SC/ST students and 45% for other category students.

How to apply

Eligible candidates can apply for the law admissions 2020-2021 in the above-mentioned Law courses offered at TNDALU, the School of Excellence in Law and the affiliated government law colleges either by the online or offline application process.

Online mode

The online applications for all the degree programmes are available at the official website of TNDALU. Separate application forms should be submitted for each course. Only candidates who wish to apply for B.B.A.L.L.B(Hons) and B.A.L.L.B(Hons) can use the same application form.

The online application submission process includes registration as the first step. Eligible candidates must register themselves by submitting their details like name, date of birth, email id and mobile id. After successful registration, the candidates will receive a user id and password. Using those credentials the candidates can log in and fill the application form, upload the necessary documents and pay the application form fee through the online payment gateway. After the successful submission of the online application form for Law courses, the candidates can download the filled-in application form.

Offline mode

Candidates can also obtain the application form in person or by post from the "The Chairman, Law Admissions 2020-2021, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Poompozhil, No.5, Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Salai, Chennai – 600 028" by paying prescribed form fee from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on all working days.

Candidates who wish to obtain the application form by post must send a requisition letter by mentioning the course to which they are willing to apply with requisite fee to the Chairman by mentioning Law admissions 2020-2021 as a subject.



NRI candidates who wish to apply for law admissions at TNDALU can obtain the application form in person from the Chairman, The Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University, Chennai by submitting a demand draft for the US $200 drawn in favour of the Registrar, The Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University, payable at Chennai as application form fee.

Note: While getting the application in person, the general public is instructed to strictly follow the COVID-19 preventive measures and guidelines issued by the Government.

The application form has been designed to suit the Optical Mark Reader System. Hence, the candidates are requested to fill all the mandatory fields in the form with the utmost care. After filling the form, the duly filled-in application form along with self-attested photocopies of following certificates or enclosures should be submitted in person or by post to "The Chairman, Law Admissions, 2020-2021", The Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University, Poompozhil, No.5, Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran, Salai, Chennai-600 028 on or before the last date. The duly filled in B.A.L.L.B application form can also be submitted in person to the Principal of the Affiliated Law Colleges. Incomplete applications and the application forms submitted after the last date will be rejected by the University.

Enclosures
  1. Copy of the S.S.L.C./ Matriculation Mark Statement or other evidence for Date of Birth
  2. Copy of the higher secondary mark statement or equivalent exam mark sheet
  3. Copy of the Transfer Certificate
  4. Copy of Conduct Certificate
  5. Copy of the Permanent Community Certificate
  6. Copy of the Permanent Residence Certificate.
  7. Copy of First Graduation Certificate (if applicable)
  8. Copy of the Special Category Reservation Certificate(if applicable)

Note: Do not submit the original copies of certificates. Only self-attested photocopies should be enclosed. The application number printed on the application form will be considered as the registration number for law admissions 2020. While attaching the enclosures, the candidates are requested to write their registration number at the top right corner of all the photocopies attached to the application.

Cost of application form

The online and offline application form fee for B.A.L.L.B(Hons)/ B.B.A.L.L.B(Hons)/ B.Com.L.L.B(Hons)/ B.C.A.L.L.B(Hons) courses is Rs.500/- for SC, SCA and ST category students and Rs.1000/- for other category students.

The online and offline application form fee for B.A.L.L.B course is Rs.250/- for SC, SCA and ST category students and Rs.500/- for other category students.

Note: Candidates seeking application by post should remit Rs.100/- in addition.

Mode of payment of application form fee

Candidates who wish to submit the online application form must pay the application form fee through the online payment gateway.

Candidates who wish to obtain the offline application form must remit the prescribed application form fee in any branch of Indian Bank through remittance challan which can be obtained from the University or it can also be downloaded from the university website. SC, SCA and ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu should submit a self-attested photocopy of the permanent community certificate along with the challan.

For the offline application form, the fee paid through other payment modes such as demand draft, money order, cheque, cash, etc will not be accepted.

Selection process

After the submission of the application forms, the university will process all the submitted forms and will prepare a rank list based on the performance of candidates in the qualifying examination excluding languages. The prepared rank list will be published in the notice board of the University and the official website of the university. All the shortlisted candidates will be called to attend university counselling on the respective date with their original certificates.

The university strictly follows reservation rules as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu for admissions into the Law courses offered at School of Excellence in Law and other affiliated government law colleges in Tamil Nadu. The allotment of seats in the law colleges will be done only through counselling session conducted by the Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University.

Candidates who are selected for admissions into the Law courses will be admitted only after the certificate verification process. The admission will be cancelled if any information provided in the application form by the candidate is incorrect or if the candidate fails to produce their original certificates at the time of counselling and admission process.

Only those candidates who have attended the counselling session and the certificate verification process conducted by TNDALU will be permitted to join for admissions in the School of Excellence in Law and the government-affiliated law colleges in Tamil Nadu.
