NHM, Dehradun call for admissions in IGNOU Certificate Program on Community Health-2020


Are you a GNM or graduate in Nursing? Do you want to join a certificate course on Community Health? Uttarakhand Health & Family Welfare Society (UKHFWS) under National Health Mission(NHM), Uttarakhand has released an official notification for the Certificate Program on Community Health-2020 which will be run by IGNOU. Eligible and interested candidates can apply for the same. Read this article to know the details of the course, intake capacity, eligibility, application and selection procedure, etc.

About the organization

Uttarakhand Health & Family Welfare Society (UKHFWS) was established in 2002 and works under Dept. of MH&FW, Govt. of Uttarakhand. The main function of society is to ensure the effective implementation of all the national programmes related to health in the state. The society is also responsible for providing technical assistance, fund management and planning, monitoring and evaluation of the national programmes running in the state of Uttarakhand.

About the program

Uttarakhand Health & Family Welfare Society (UKHFWS) under National Health Mission(NHM), Uttarakhand is going to start a certificate program which will be implemented by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Online applications from the eligible candidates are being submitted for the Certificate Program of Community Health. The course was started to strengthen and improve the primary health care services and control of health diseases by proper implementation of health programmes. The motive of this program/course is to train the eligible and passionate candidates who are keen to serve and carry health services to the community at their doorsteps.

Benefit of the course

After the successful completion of this course, the candidates will be posted as Community Health Officer (CHO)/ Mid Level Health Provider (MLHP) at the Sub-centres which will be developed as Health & Wellness Centers (H&WCs). These officers will lead the teams of the female health workers or Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANMs), male health worker or Multi-Purpose Health Workers (MPW), and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in the Sub-centres. The candidates who will join their posting at HWC in the allotted district as MLHP/ CHO will receive a fixed remuneration (Rs.25,000/- monthly) and variable performance-based incentive (maximum up to Rs 15,000/- monthly).

Course duration: 6 months

No. of Seats:The total numbers of seats in this course are 300. There will be reservation in seats for the candidates belongs to Schedule Caste (SC), Schedule Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class(OBC), Economically Weaker Section(EWS), Uttarakhand Woman(W), Specially Able(SA), Ex-Army Serviceman(Ex), Dependents of Freedom Fighter(FF) and Orphan Child of Uttarakhand(OC).

Course fee:The course fee of IGNOU will be paid by the National Health Mission, Uttarakhand.

Eligibility criteria

The following essential criteria are required for the admission in the course and the candidate's who will satisfy the below-mentioned criteria are eligible to apply.
  • Educational qualifications and other requirements
    The applicant must hold a degree in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or B.Sc. Nursing from any recognized institution/ university.

    The applicant must be registered with any Nursing Council in India. However, after the candidate's selection, to join the course, he/she must have to register himself/herself with the Uttarakhand Nursing Council.

  • Age criteria
    The maximum age limit is 35 years for the un-reserved or OBC category. The candidates belonging to SC and ST category will have a relaxation of five years. Age will be calculated on July 01, 2020.
    In case of the Specially Able, Dependents of Freedom Fighter candidates, the maximum age limit is 40 years.

    In the case of Ex-Servicemen (All Categories), age will be calculated by deduction of the total service years and addition of 3 years.

Note:At a given time, only one age relaxation benefit can be availed by the candidate.
The candidate, who belongs to states other than Uttarakhand will be considered in General Category (UR) only.

How to apply

The interested candidates, who have the requisite qualification, must check the advertisement no.- 1007/NHMUK/HR/2020-21/313 Dated -06 /08/2020 on the official website of UKHFWS. The application form is available on the website and will be filled and submitted online only. After submission candidate must download a copy of the filled online application form.

Selection procedure

The selection of the candidates will be based on the applications received and the provisional merit list will be prepared and uploaded on the website after 07 days of the due date of the online application form submission. Counselling will be held in which based on the merit list candidates will be called for personal presence. Schedule of the counselling will be uploaded on the official website of UKHFWS on a later date.
In the counselling, the candidates will have to deposit the Surety Bond and the Demand Draft of Rs 1,03,400/-. The candidate must prepare the Demand draft in the favour of "UKHFWS-RCH FLEXIPOOL" payable at Dehradun and bring at the time of the counselling. Document verification will be done on the same day, hence, candidates are required to bring the all original documents with them.

Documents to be submitted during counselling

During Counselling, besides surety bond and demand draft, the provisionally selected candidates (as per merit list) will have to submit their application along with the self-attested copies of following documents:
  1. Filled Application form (Application form is available and can be downloaded from the website of UKHFWS)
  2. Class 10th mark sheet
  3. Class 12th mark sheet
  4. GNM or B.Sc. Nursing mark sheet
  5. Certificate or proof of registration in Nursing Council of India
  6. Caste Certificate
  7. Disability Certificate
  8. No Objection Certificate by current employer
  9. Proof of Date of Birth
  10. One passport size photograph
  11. Certificate/ proof for the claim of reservation category (if applicable) like Ex-servicemen, Dependents of freedom fighter, Economically Weaker Section, Orphan Children of Uttarakhand, women of Uttarakhand issued by the competent authority.
Note:Candidate will be treated as General Category (UR) if she/ he fails to submit the Caste Certificate on the day of counselling.

Important instructions

  • The candidates are advised to fill the application form carefully and submit online well in advance to avoid any problem or unforeseen issue on the online portal. NHM will not be responsible for any such issue.
  • It is also suggested that candidates must check the official website regularly for any updates.

Closing date: The due date for submission of online application is August 17, 2020 by 05:00 PM.
