About CSIR-CIMAP
CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), formerly known as the Central Indian Medicinal Plants Organisation (CIMPO), was established in 1959. It is an autonomous institute of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) which is governed by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. Institute has also accredited by ICS-UNIDO and Indian-Ocean Rim Association (IORA) and provide research and training on Medicinal Plants. In CIMAP major emphasis has been given on the research on medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs). Institute has it's headquartered in Lucknow and four research centres at different locations in India. CSIR-CIMAP is a leading organization researching in the production of vetivers, mints and other aromatic plants at a global level. A National Gene Bank for medicinal and aromatic plants was also established at CIMAP. Main functions of CSIR-CIMAP are the production of plant materials like cultivars, herbal products, formulations, conservation of genetic resources and research and development in the basic and applied areas of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs). The institute is now inviting application from motivated and highly talented candidates for admission in CIMAP-JNU PhD programme for session 2020-2021. Admission to the CIMAP-JNU PhD programme August Session 2020 will be done through a walk-in/online interview via MS-TEAM for maintaining social distancing due to COVID-19 pandemic. The candidates, selected in the interview, will have to complete Pre-PhD courses which include 2 semesters in a year. In pre-PhD courses, he/she must choose any one sub-discipline as the core courses with optional courses. The candidates who will score OGPA 6.5/ 10.0 in case of General & OBC category students and 6.0/ 10.0 for SC/ST/PH category students, will be declared eligible for registration in CIMAP-JNU PhD programme. These candidates will get an opportunity to research under the guidance of scientists of CSIR-CIMAP during their PhD tenure.Application procedure
