Are you a non-native of Tamil Nadu seeking admission to an engineering or architecture UG course at Anna University, Chennai? This article provides an opportunity for students who are natives of other states of India to apply for a B.E., B.Tech., B.Arch. or M.C.A. program at Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The complete information about the list of courses and the online application procedure for each has been provided.
Anna University, Chennai has issued the notification for admission to the first year of B.E., B.Tech., B.Arch. and M.C.A. degree courses for the academic session of 2020-2021 for eligible candidates from states outside Tamil Nadu as per the seats reserved for them in the respective Departments.

At the outset, here are some important instructions: Applications for the admission process for Other State candidates will be accepted only from citizens of India who are not natives of the State of Tamil Nadu. The relevant certificate of permanent residence in the prescribed format given at the official website will be required to be uploaded in English. A student can register for any one or all three at one time only but will be required to pay the online fee accordingly (refer to the details of the application fee later in this article). Furthermore, those who pass the qualifying exam after the last date of submission of application will not be considered eligible to get admission to the course.
The online admission for the Out of State candidates has started on 12th August 2020 and will end on 3rd September 2020, at 5.30 p.m.
Anna University B.E. courses
All the courses are of four years' duration, over eight semesters. To be eligible for admission, the student should pass in H.S.C. or its equivalent or have any other equivalent qualification approved by the Higher Secondary Board of Tamil Nadu. In either case, the academic H.S.C. qualifying criteria should be with a minimum average 45% percentage in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together (for SC and ST candidates it should be min.40%). Note that improvement marks obtained from 2006 onwards will not be considered.Civil Engineering courses

All the courses are of four years' duration, over eight semesters and the eligibility criteria is the same as mentioned above for B.E. courses.Anna University UG Architecture course
The B.Arch. course offered by the Dept. of Architecture and Planning of the university is a five-year course over 10 semesters. Eligibility criteria
The student should have passed H.S.C. or its equivalent and studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM). Students who have passed 10+3 years Diploma exam in any stream recognized by Central Govt. or a State Government with Maths as a compulsory subject and IB-Diploma students who have passed the International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling with Maths as a compulsory subject are also eligible to apply.
Additionally, only for the academic session of 2020-21, students who have qualified through the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture, New Delhi with pass percentage in 10+2 exam with PCM or 10+3 Diploma with Maths are also eligible for admission to the B.Arch. course.
Anna University M.C.A. course
Students who are applying for the M.C.A. degree course (regular and evening self-supporting) should note that this is offered only at the University Department of College of Engineering at the Guindy Campus, of Anna University, Chennai and not at any other affiliated college of the University.Eligibility criteria
You should have passed in a recognised Bachelor's degree of minimum three years with Maths at the 10+2 level or at the Graduate level and also scored a minimum of 50 % in the qualifying degree exam. The acceptable academic qualifications are-How to apply
Candidates for all courses should register with a valid email ID and contact mobile number and apply online at the Anna University admission page for Other State candidates . Applications that are submitted without the photo and relevant documents will not be accepted.

During the online application process, you will need to upload scanned relevant documents, as well as a scanned photo (this should be in jpeg format only with file size 20 to 25 KB. The documents required are-

An application fee of Rs.500/- has to be paid online if you are applying for only B.E. and B.Tech. courses, Rs.500/ - if you are applying for only B.Arch. courses, and Rs.1000/- for all three, namely B.E., B.Tech. and B.Arch. courses.
Important note: The documents that you upload should be in English and if not in English, the documents must be translated by a competent authority and then uploaded along with the original version which is in the other language.Instructions for online application for MCA course
During the online application process, you need to upload the relevant scanned certificates/documents in .pdf format (size up to 150kb) and photo in .jpg/.jpeg format (size up to maximum 50kb).

The registration fee Rs.500/- has to be paid online.After selection
The counseling for admission will be done only through the online mode and once the rank list is put up at the official website, then eligible students will be able to exercise their choice of the branch of study. There is a counseling fee of Rs.5000/- that has to be paid online, and this fee will be adjusted towards the tuition fee later if the student gets a seat.Contact information
